Defending champions Karnataka and runners-up West Bengal maintained their winning streak in the 8th All-India Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) inter-circle football tournament here on Tuesday.
In the 11 matches played on Monday at four different venues, Karnataka thrashed Jharkhand 5-0 while West Bengal struggled to down North East I 2-0. A few teams had to play two matches in a day to complete the schedule.
Hosts Bihar, opened their account beating Andhra Pradesh 1-0 after a keen tussle. In the other matches of the day, Kerala beat UP East 9-0, the biggest ever victory margin in the tournament thus far.
Results: Kerala beat UP East 9-0, Karnataka beat Orissa 3-0, North East (II) beat Madhya Pradesh 3-0, West Bengal beat North East (I) 2-0, Tamil Nadu beat MTNL Mumbai 3-0, Bihar drew MTNL, Dlehi 0-0, Maharashtra beat NTR, Delhi 2-0, Jammu and Kashmir beat UP East 8-0, Karnataka beat Jharkhand 5-0, Orissa beat Madhya Pradesh 4-0 and Bihar beat Andhra Pradesh 1-0.
