Manoj claims New Patna Club tennis title

Patna, January 27
Manoj Kumar claimed the men's singles title of the New Patna Club tennis championship defeating Amitesh Anand 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the final at New Patna Club courts here on Monday.

Maonj took the first set easily at 6-3 but Amitesh bounced back in the second winning the set by an identical margin. Manoj fought hard in the decider to stave off Amitesh challenge and won the set and the match at 6-4.

Adya Sinha clinched the girls’ singles crown beating Kislay Kaushambee in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Adya and Kislay fought well in the first set. Adya broke Kislay serves and captured the set at 6-4. The second set, however, was an easy go for Adya as she did not face much difficulty to get the set and the match.

Shantanu Somya bagged the boys’ singles title beating Punit Nandan 6-3, 6-2. Aditya Bharadwaj claimed the junior boys' singles title defeating Nehal Singh 6-2, 6-1. Sarthak won the mini junior boys’ singles crown thrashing Raghav Shroff 6-1, 6-2.
Deepak Sinha and Sanjay Kumar defeated BN Singh and Amar Jaiswal 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to win the men's doubles title. APN Singh, secretary, New Patna Club distributed the prizes.
