Sanmarg and Dainik Jagran took their appointed place in the quarter-finals from pool 'B' defeating Times of India and News Agencies XI respectively in the fourth Airtel Media Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament at the Moinul Haq Stadium on Sunday.
In the first match, Sanmarg clinched a cliff-hanger beating Times of India by three runs. Batting after winning the toss, Sanmarg could muster 89 runs in 16.5 overs. In reply, Times of India were all out for 86 runs in 19.3 overs. Md Saddab (Sanmarg), who claimed four wickets for 23 runs, was declared man of the match.
In the second match, Dainik Jagran made 179 for three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Vivekanand (60) and Manish Singh (42) did bulk of the scoring.
Chasing a winning target of 180 runs in 20 overs, News Agencies XI were all out for 104 runs in 19.5 overs. Manish Singh, claimed three wickets for 16 runs. He was adjudged man of the match.
