PDCA Sr league: Parbha XI shock BSEB; ECR, Danapur maintain their winning streak

Prabha XI chalked out a stunning 8-run win over Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) in the PDCA senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Wednesday. In the other match, East Central Railway, Danapur recorded impressive 72-run win over Navshakti Niketan.

Musallahpur boys and Saidpur girls win Patna district inter-school kho-kho titles

Government Middle School, Musallahpur and Government Middle School, Saidpur won the boys and girls titles respectively in the BN Chowdhary memorial Patna district inter-school kho-kho championships at the outer ground of the Moinul haq Stadium here on Wednesday.

In the boys’ final Musallahpur outsmarted Fatuha High School by six runs while Saidpur girls prevailed over Notre Dame Academy by seven runs. Mukesh Kumar, Bunty and Kanhaiya played well for Musallahpur while Deshraj, Ankur, Sikandar and Ritesh performed significantly for the losers.

Jyotika, Anuradha, Anu, Archana and Priyanka displayed captivating performance for Saidpur school. Julie, Preeti and Nidhi showed their worth for Notre Dame Academy.

Former DGP RR Prasad and Bihar Olympic Association secretary Mushtaq Ahmad gave away the prizes. Bihar Kho-Kho Association secretary, IS Thakur, Mrs Lalita Devi, Mithislesh Kumar Singh and Dr Uttam Kumar Singh were among the other dignitaries present at the prize-distribution function.

Patna school kho-kho: Notre Dame Academy in semi-finals

Notre Dame Academy, Government Middle School, Saguna, Danapur and Julie High School moved into the semi-finals in the girls’ section of the BN Choudhary Patna district kho-kho championship at the outer ground of the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Tuesday.

In the boys’ section, Government Middle School, Musallahpur, Government Middle School,Paharipar, BD Public School and Fatuha High School made the last four grade with facile wins.

PDCA Sr league: BSEB post 14-run win, Adhikari XI lose

Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) beat Exhibition Road Cricket Club (ERCC) by 14 runs in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Tuesday.
Earlier in the first match, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya defeated Adhikari XI by five wickets.

Electing to bat first, BSEB scored 170 for seven off 30 overs with Ashutosh making a half-century (66). In reply, ERCC scored 146 for the loss of seven wickets off 30 overs. Ali Rashid made 32 runs. Avi Prakash took three wickets for 27 runs.

Patna District Cricket Association junior division league entered the quarter-final stage with Patna Athletic Club (PAC) and Kedia XI booking their berths in the last eight winning their respective matches against Vinoo Mankad Cricket Club Sanskritik Sangh at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Tuesday.

Patna Athletic Club beat Vinoo Mankad Club by 50 runs while Kedia XI got the better of Sanskritik Sangha by four runs.

PDCA Sr. league: Resounding wins for PESU, East Central Railway (Danapur)

Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (PESU) chalked out 59-run victory over Zafar Imam Cricket Club (ZICC) in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Monday. In the second match, East Central Railway (ECR), Danapur, drubbed Secretariat Sports Club by eight wickets.


Tushar stroked in a polished half-century in PESU 137 all out off 24.1 overs. Amit and Pradeep took three wickets each for 23 and 28 runs respectively. In reply, Zafar Imam were bowled out for 78 runs off 24.5 overs. Nikhilesh Ranjan captured three wickets for 16 runs.

In the second match, Secretariat could manage to score 104 runs off 24.1 overs. ECR had no difficulty to reach the target losing two wickets off 18.2 overs. Keshav made a nice half-century for ECR, Danapur.

In the boys’ section, Regal International High School beat Mount Everest School 8-2.

Hercules Cricket Club trounced Bata by six wickets in the PDCA senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Saturday. Earlier in the first match, East Central Railway (ECR), Danapur, beat Rising Star by 53 runs.

Batting first, Bata could manage to score 59 runs off 20 overs. Harpreet took three wickets for 10 runs. In reply, Hercules achieved the target losing four wickets. Sharwan made 19 runs.
In the first match, ECR, Danapur scored 153 runs for six wickets off 30 overs. Keshav slammed 40 runs while Ajay Mishra remained unbeaten on 34 runs. In reply, Rising Star were all out for 100 runs off 25.2 overs. Deepak took three wickets while Keshav grabbed two.

Sabanayakan re-elected Calcutta Sports Journalists' Club presdient; Saibal new secretary

S. Sabanayakan of The Hindu and Saibal Bose of The Times of India have been elected unanimously president and secretary respectively of the Calcutta Sports Journalists' Club at the annual general meeting here today.

While Sabanayakan stayed as the president for the second year, Bose came in as the secretary for the first time. Amitabha Das Sharma of The Hindu also retained the post of treasurer. S Sabanayakan is also the president of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI).


The rest of the Executive Council members will be finalised in the first meeting.

Bihar girls finish third in Jr. National throwball

Bihar girls got third position in the junior National throwball championship held in Mumbai recently. Bihar narrowly missed the chance to play in the final losing to Tamil Nadu by just one point in the semi-final.

Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu, who was with the team in Mumbai, said Bihar defeated Madhya Pradesh for the third place clash.

He said Sweta Rai, Neha Rani, Sumedha and Priyanka Dayal performed well in the tournament. He also lauded the efforts of all team members.

Meanwhile, Patna Women’s College principal Sister Doris D Suza, patron-in-chief of the Throwball Association of Bihar, SB Prasad, Patna Central School principal SP Singh and vice-principal OP Singh congratulated all the members of Bihar team for their achievement.

City Students’ Club had a cake-walk in the PDCA junior division cricket league with a commendable eight-wicket victory over Evergreen Cricket Club at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Friday.

Batting first, Evergreen club scored 101 runs in 21 overs. Sachin top scored with 38 runs. Ajay Pandey bowled well to capture three wickets for six runs.
In reply, City Students scored the required runs in 18 overs for the loss of two wickets. Ajay Pandey hit an unbeaten half century (50) to play a key role in his team’s victory.

Shasheem slams century in PDCA league

State Bank of India (SBI) handed 60-run defeat on the East Central Railway (ECR), Danapur, in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Thursday.


Electing to bat first, SBI made 143 runs in 29.4 overs. In reply, ECR, Danapur, stumbled against SBI’s bowler Dipendra Kumar Sinha, and were all out for 83 runs in 20 overs.Dipendra captured four wickets for 30 runs. Keshav was the only batsman to reach double figures (43). For SBI, Mridul top scored with 29 runs. Keshav Kumar, Deepak and Ajay Mshra took two wickets each.

The second match of the day saw impressive batting performance by Shasheem Rathore, who struck a fine unbeaten century for Vanijya Mahavidyalaya. Rathore 124 not out was the first century of the ongoing league. His knock contained 10 boundaries and five sixes. Eventually, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya defeated Prabha XI by 62 runs.

PDCA senior division league: Rajesh Sinha spins PESU to impressive victory

Taking five wickets in a match has always been a moment to cherish. Old-war-horse Rajesh Sinha did it umpteen times in his career. On Wednesday playing against Kamala Nehru Cricket Club (KNCC), Rajesh Sinha did it again. He took five wickets for 20 runs off 6 overs to help Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (PESU) post convincing nine-wicket victory over KNCC in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here.

Batting first KNCC could manage to score a meagre 94 runs off 29.2 overs. Cahandan Prakash emerged as the top scorer stroking polished 42 runs with four hits to the fence. Mr Extras (20) was the other noteworthy contributor.

Besides Rajesh Sinha’s five-wicket haul, PESU skipper Nikhilesh Ranjan claimed three wickets for 21 runs in his spell of 5.2 overs.

PESU replied back in an impressive way. Openers Indrajeet and Viswas Gauray put in a half-century partnership for the first wicket before Viswas was adjudged run out making 25 runs with three boundaries. Indrajeet and Kislay Kishore carried PESU to victory without furtherdamage. Indrajeet remained unbeaten on 52 runs. His knock contained three boundaries and two mighty heaves over the fence. Kslay too remained not out on 13 runs.

The second match of the day, however, witnessed a bit of fight between Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya. BSEB prevailed over their rivals by four wickets.
Vanijya compiled a fighting 158 for the loss of nine wickets off 30overs. BSEB reached the target losing six wickets on way in 29.1overs.

PDCA junior division league: FCI, Blue Star match ends in a tie

The junior division league match between FCI and Blue Star Cricket Club (BSCC) in the PDCA junior division league ended in a tie at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Tuesday. This was the first tied match of the season which witnessed a nail-biting finish.

Batting first, BSCC were 131 for nine wickets in the allotted 30 overs. In reply, FCI also scored 131 for nine wickets in the stipulated 30 overs.

In the second match, Gardanibagh Athletic Club (GAC) got a walk-over against
Bhanwar Pokhar Cricket Club as the latter failed to turn up.

PDCA senior division league: Easy win for Panchsheel; BSEB struggle to beat Adhikari XI

Panchsheel Cricket Club proved too good for Bata in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Thursday. In a one sided match Pnachseel crushed Bata by 90 runs. Earlier in the first match, Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) beat Adhikari XI by one wicket in a grueling battle.

Batting first, Panchsheel scored 166 runs for the loss of eight wickets with Atish emerging as the top scorer (40), Mani Bhushan claimed three wickets for 20 runs.

In reply, Bata were all out for a paltry 76 on the board off 26 overs. Pintu took four wickets for 13 runs.

The first match of the day saw Adhikari XI making 151 runs off 29.3 overs. Deepak Kumar (44), Sonal Roy (24) and Manish Kumar (27) did the bulk of the scoring. Saurav Singh grabbed four wickets for 25 runs.

In reply, BSEB struggled hard and finally won it in a cliff-hanger by one wicket on the last ball of the innings. Abhinav Verma was the architect of BSEB victory with his unbeaten 79 runs. Amit )3 for 21) and Abhishek Kumar (2 for 22) were the main wicket takers for Adhikari XI.

Ashish stars in Adhikari XI victory

Ashish Sinha scored a brilliant half century as Adhikari XI registered a fluent 6-wicket win over Exhibition Road cricket Club(ERCC) in the Patna District Cricket Association senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Monday.
Ashish Sinha made 62 runs with six boundaries and two sixes.

Batting first, ERCC scored 147 for eight wickets off 30 overs. Ali Rashid (48) and Abhay Ranjan (39) gave some respectability to ERCC total. Manish Anand claimed three wickets for 16 runs.

In reply, Adhikari XI raced to the target off 21 overs. Deepak Kumar (39), Manish Anand (16) and Manish Kumar (19) were the other significant contributors.

Earlier in the first match, Rising Star defeated Navshakti Niketan by 46 runs. Rising Star complied 161 runs off 30 overs and then bowled their rival out for a meager 115 runs off 27. 3 overs.

Jay Prakash Cricket Club (JPCC) beat Moonlight Cricket Club by four wickets in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) junior division league at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Sunday.

Moonlight made 119 runs for the loss off nine wickets off 30 overs with Sudhakar (30), Kshtiz (22) and Mukesh (22) scoring most of the runs. Chhotu took three wickets for 22 runs.

In reply, JPCC hit up the required runs off 21.5 overs losing six wickets. Chhotu (43) emerged as the top scorer for the winners. Ravish claimed three wickets for 13 runs.

Gaurav, Kritika win Bihar U-9 chess titles

Gaurav Kumar of Muzaffarpur clinched the Bihar State U-9 chess championships title with five points after the end of as many rounds at Sudarshan Central School hall here on Sunday.

Kritika Choudhary, also from Muzaffarpur with five points in her credit won the girls title. Gaurav and Kritika, both, remained unbeaten in this five-round Swiss league system tournament.

Saurav Anand (Purnia) and Amrit Verma (Muzaffarpur) collected four points each after the end of final round play. Saurav was declared second with 13 progressive points while Amirt had to be satisfied with third position with 11 porgressive points.

Kumar Gaurav of Purnia took the fourth spot with 3.5 points to his credit.

In the girls’ section, Shreya Sankalp of Chapra bagged the second spot with 4 points while Janhavi got the third spot with three points.

All Bihar Chess Association secretary, Arvind Kumar Sinha and Balbir Yadav, district sports officer (Patna) distributed the prizes. Rakesh Ranjan, secretary, Patna District Chess Association welcomed the guests and Rajesh Ranjan of Patna Chess Academy proposed a vote of thanks. Sudarshan Central School principal Neeta Singh presided over the prize-distribution function.

PDCA junior division league: Boring Raod, Bank of India earn full points

Boring Road Cricket Club beat Moonlight Cricket Club by 13 runs in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) junior division league at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Saturday.

In the second match of the day Bank of India spanked Anisabad Cricket Club by six wickets.

Boring Road made 146 for the loss of five wickets off 30 overs and then bowled their rivals out for 133 runs off 27.5 overs. Sunil’s 38 was the highlight of the Boring Road innings.

Kritika Choudhary of Muzaffarpur with three points emerged sole leader in the girls section after as many rounds.

PDCA senior division league: Contrasting wins for SBI and Patna College

Patna College struggled to edge past Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (PESU) by one wicket in the PDCA senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Saturday. In the first match of the day, State Bank of India (SBI) defeated Navshakti Niketan by 48 runs.

Batting first SBI collected 174 runs for the loss of two wickets off 30 overs. Mridul and Arvind Jha slammed half centuries. In reply, Navshakti Niketan stumbled out for 126 runs off 27.2 overs. Deepankar Kumar Sinha ran through the Navshakti innings claiming six wickets for 29 runs.

PESU made 136 for 7 off 30 overs while Patna College achieved the target with eight balls to spare losing nine wickets.

PDCA senior division league: SBI score 32-run win

State Bank of India (SBI) fought hard to beat Secretariat by 32 runs in the Patna District Cricket Association (PDCA) senior division league at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Wednesday. In the second match, PESU beat YMCC by 5 wickets.

Batting first State Bank of India scored 137 runs and then restricted their rivals for 105 runs. In the second match, YMCC could manage to score 114 runs off 30 overs while their rivals PESU chased the target successfully losing five wickets on the way.

After a lot of hara-kiri Patna District Cricket Association senior division cricket league began at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Friday. In the first match, Patna College scored an emphatic five-wicket victory over YMCC while Zafar Imam Cricket Club (ZICC) recorded 42-run victory over KNCC in the second match.

Dilip Kumar put Patna College on the front foot claiming four wickets for 13 runs as YMCC could manage to score 105 all out off 27.3 overs after electing to bat first. Sahil Srivastava top scored with 24 runs.
In reply, Amit Nicky (44) guided Patna College to victory. Dililp (19) and Amit (12) were the other useful contributors.

Dony Polo School clinch Sheela Devi T20 cricket title

Dony Polo Public School clinched the fourth Sheela Devi memorial under-16 Twenty20 inter-school cricket title defeating Patna Central School by 6 wickets at the Patna High School ground here on Wednesday.


In a low scoring match, Patna Central School could not do much against Dony Polo Public School bowlers and were all out for paltry 80 runs off 17.1 overs. Satyam emerged as the top scorer with well made 42 runs. Nikhil also reached the double figures (18). Kislay Kanan got three wickets for only four runs. Rajnish and Anand took two wickets each.

In reply Dony Polo boys had no difficulty to achieve the target losing only four wickets on the way despite some good bowling performance by Krishnamani, who captured three wickets for 17 runs. Nishant (245) and Kishlay Kanan (19) were the notable contributors for the winners.

At the end, Front Line Group president Birendra Kumar distributed the prizes. Patna High School principal Bisheshwar Prasad was the guest honour at the closing function.

In the boys’ section, Kumar Gaurav, Akhauri Harshit, Saurav Anand andVeer Sharma earned full points while Kritika Chowdahry and Shreya Sankalp won their first round matches easily.

Earlier, Neeta Singh, principal, Acharya Sudarshan Central School inaugurated the tournament. Patna District Chess Association patron-in-chief Akhilesh Akhil was the chief guest while All Bihar Chess Association secretary Arvind Kumar Sinha was the guest of honour at the opening function.

Praduman, Nasrin deaf chess champions

Praduman Singh clinched the men’s title in the third Bihar state chess championship of the Deaf at the Rana Pratap Bhawan here on Sunday. Nasrin Imam won the women’s crown.

Sujata Rani claimed the girls’ title while Raushan Kumar won the boys’ title.Renowned physician Dr SN Arya distributed the prizes. Renowned orthopedics Dr RN Singh, LabourCommissioner, UN Rai and Rotary Mid Town president Rajesh Gupta graced the closing function. Dr Shiv Kumar Prasad, president, Patna District Deaf Association presided overthe function. Sudhansu Prakash proposed a vote of thanks.

Bihar throwball teams leave for Mumbai

Bihar throwball teams left for Mumbai on Thursday night to participate in the National junior and beach throwball championship to be held at Mumbai from April 11.

Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Niraj Kumar Pappu said he hoped that Bihar would perform well in the championships. “Our boys and girls in good frame of mind and they will definitely do well in the tournament”, he said.

Tarun Kumar shines as Bihar lift East Zone veterans' cricket trophy; Bengal lose in final

Former Bihar Ranji Trophy player Tarun Kumar Bhola scored a sparkling 60 runs and helped his side retain the East Zone veterans’ cricket championships trophy defeating Bengal by one wicket in a hard-fought final at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Thursday.

Tarun Kumar innings was studded with five boundaries and three towering sixes. For his gallant effort, he was later adjudged man of the match.

Earlier, Bengal skipper Ajay Verma won the toss and decided to bat. They were all out for 139 runs in 36.4 overs. S Mitra (34, 2x4), S Singh (16, 1x4), Ajay Verma (10), S Bhattacharjee (18) and OP Tiwari (23) were the main contributors.

Bihar skipper Sunil Kumar once again shone with the ball in this tournament capturing four wickets for 24 runs off 6.4 overs. Nikhilesh Ranjan claimed two wickets for 32 runs. Vishnu Shankar and Saurav Chakaraborty both took one wicket each.

In reply, Nikhilesh Ranjan and Rajesh ‘Puttu’ opened the Bihar innings. Rajesh (2) was first to go when he was declared leg before wicket off Sagarmoy Sen Sharma (7 for one). Tarun joined Nikhilesh Ranjan for the second wicket partnership but after the addition of six runs to Bihar’s total, Nikhilesh (2) was bowled by medium pacer S Bhattacharjee (13 for two).

Tarun with skipper Sunil Kumar added 45 precious runs for the third wicket. At this stage, Sunil Kumar (15, 1x4) was stumped by wicketkeeper P Das off former international Utpal Chatterjee (58 for three). Finally it was Tarun who guided the side to victory. Bihar hit the required runs in 38 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Sanjay Sinha (21) and Saurav (11) did some good job at the end.
Probir Mukherjee was the most successful bowler claiming four wickets for 26 runs.

Bihar Cricket Association secretary Ajay Narain Sharma was the chief guest at the closing function and he distributed the prizes. Ravi P Sinha, president, Bihar State Carrom Association and office-bearers of several other state associations were present on the occasion.

East Zone veterans' cricket: Utpal Chatterjee spins Bengal into final

Bengal stormed into the final of the 11th East Zone veterans’ cricket championships trouncing Jharkhand by 88 runs at the Moinul Haq Stadium here.

The hero of the Bengal victory was former international Utpal Chatterjee, who took four wickets for 17 runs with his off spinners. Utpal was adjudged man of the match.

Asked to bat first by Jharkhand skipper and former Bihar Ranji Trophy team captain Avinash Kumar, Bengal scored 209 runs for the loss of nine wickets off 40 overs. OP Tiwari emerged as the top scorer for Bengal with his 42 runs. Pulak Das (34) and S Mitra (32) were the other useful run-getters. Leg spinner Avinash Kumar claimed three wickets for 31 runs while Deepak Kumar bagged as many wickets for 46 runs.

In reply, Jharkhand were all out for 121 runs off 31 overs. Sushil Kumar top scored with 48 runs in an otherwise dismal performance by Jharkhand batsmen. Deepak Kumar (14) and Subrato Bannerjee (15) were the other noteworthy contributors.

Besides Utpal Chatterjee’s four-wicket haul, S Bhattacharya and Probir Mukherjee got two wickets each for 19 and 11 runs respectively.

East Zone veterans' cricket: Sunil Kumar leads Bihar into final

Love to see former Bihar Ranji Trophy team skipper Sunil Kumar in action again. This time he was representing Biihar in the East Zone veterans’ cricket championships at the Moinul Haq Stadium here. Sunil Kumar began his career in Bihar Rajin Trophy team as a wicket-keeper cum batsman and rose to captaincy for his significant contribution for Bihar. In the later part of his career Sunil turned an all-rounder with his medium pace mixed with fast off spinners.

Sunil was in his full steam in the opening match of the East Zone championships against Orissa leading the side by example, he first scored an attacking 40 runs with five nicely executed shots to the fence and one mighty heave over it and then captured four wickets for 21 runs off 6.3 overs. Sunil Kumar’s heroics enabled Bihar beat Orisaa by an huge margin of 100 runs and enter the final of the four-team event. Sunil was also brilliant on the field taking two good catches. He was later rightly declared man of the match.

Earlier, Orissa skipper, Bikram Mohanty won the toss and asked Bihar to bat first. Bihar made 245 runs for the loss of eight wickets off 40 overs. Former Bihar Ranji Trophy opening batsman Nikhilesh Ranjan opened the innings with Pratyay Amrit. Nikhilesh Ranjan was first to making 40 runs with two boundaries and three sixes. Tarun Kumar joined Pratay and they carried the score to 73 before Tarun (10) was caught by A Mohanty off PC Rout (73 for 2).

Pratyay and skipper Sunil Kumar added 29 runs for the third wickets. At this stage Pratyay (16, 1x4) was caught by S Choudhary off BK Das (103 for 3). In the later part of the Bihar innings Rajeev Prasad made a stroke-filled 52 with six boundaries. Sanjay Sinha was unbeaten with 24 (1x4, 2x6) runs.

For Orissa, BK Das claimed two wickets for 51 runs in his eight overs spell. A Mohanty, SA Jawaid and Saroj Barik all took one wicket each for 44, 19 and 42 runs respectively.

In reply, Orissa were all out for 145 runs in 34.3 overs. Soumitra Choudhary (48, 2x4), Prashant Mahapatra (17, 2x4) and Saroj Barik (32, 3x4, 2x6) were the main contributors. Vishnu Shankar and Nikhilesh Ranjan both bagged two wickets each for 17 and 21 runs, respectively.


Earlier, Additional Director General of Police, Abhyanand inaugurated the tournament in a simple function. Asha Singh, principal, Arvind Mahila College was the special guest at the opening ceremony. Bihar Cricket Association secretary Ajay Narain Sharma and officials of the different sports associations of Bihar were present at the inaugural function.

ICF brings in sea change in carrom rules

International Carrom Federation brought in sea change in the playing rules of carrom to make the game fast-paced and simple keeping in view the interest of players and spectators. The rules have been implemented world-wide from April 1.

Bihar State Carrom Association secretary Bharat Bhushan said the All India Carrom Federation had ratified the playing conditions and four changes in the rules of the game. Bhushan is also the vice-president of the AICF.

New Rules

(a) All matches shall be decided on the basis of best of three sets of four boards or 23 points whichever is earlier. A player who reaches 23 points first or leads on conclusion of the fourth board shall be the winner of the ‘set’.

(b) ‘Game’ shall be called a ‘set’.

(c) A time of two minutes shall be allowed between the 1st set and 2nd set and between 2nd and 3rd sets, to start the next set. Players shall be allowed to consult their coaches during intervening time of two minutes.

(d) Players are not allowed to leave the playing arena till the match is completed.

(e) In the third set, side shall be changed after two boards.

(f) A player shall not take more than 10 seconds to make a stroke and/or to place the penalty/due.

(g) A maximum of 11 points can be scored in a 'board'. Any due and/or c/m shall automatically be written off.

(h) Queen will have the value of two points. The player shall be entitled to be credited with the value of the Queen, only if he wins the board. Loser of the board shall not get any point even if he pockets the Queen.

(i) Queen is not required to be covered.

(j) The player shall not lose the advantage of getting the credit of two points for pocketing Queen even if reaches the score of 21 or 22 points. In other words, a player shall get two points for pocketing Queen at all stages of the set without any consideration of the score.

(k) A player has the right to pocket the Queen provided a c/m of his own has already been pocketed.

(l) Queen can be pocketed even after pocketing one's all his nine white or black c/m.

(m) In case a player pockets all his c/m while the Queen is on the board, the board will not be treated as over. He can pocket the Queen as the last c/m. If he pockets, he wins the board. If he fails, the turn will pass on to the opponent. The opponent can choose to pocket the Queen either at the beginning or in between or in the end. If after pocketing of Queen, few c/m remain on the board, he shall continue his turn till he is able to pocket the remaining c/m. On pocketing all his c/m and the Queen, he wins the board by 2 points since his opponent has already pocketed all his c/m. If he fails to pocket any of the remaining c/m, he will lose the board with the number of c/m lying on the board.

(n) Reporting time shall be five minutes before the scheduled time. A player shall lose the entire match if he fails to report to the Umpire at his match Board 5 minutes before the scheduled time of the match.

(o) During those five minutes, umpires would complete all the formalities as required by them and in the meantime players may have trial testing of the board for two minutes to be completed before the scheduled time of the match.

(p) Matches shall start right at the scheduled time.

(q) In case the score of both the players at the end of four boards is equal, the set will be decided on the basis of TIE-BREAKER. In tie-breaker both the players will be given three chances alternatively to pocket a c/m from the same side they are already sitting.

(r) Tie-breaker c/m will be placed by the Umpire within the outer circle touching the line of the outer circle in straight line of the center circle on the opposite side of the player pocketing the c/m.

(s) If score remains equal even after the tie-breaker, the set shall be decided by ‘sudden death’.

(t) In sudden death, again both the players will be given alternative chances to pocket the tie-breaker c/m from the same side they are already sitting. In sudden death, after one chance to each player, as and when a player fails to pocket the c/m, he loses the set. The same shall continue till a decision is arrived at.

(u) First stroke both in ‘tie-breaker’ and ‘sudden death’ shall be decided by a common toss for both tie-breaker and sudden death. Winner can either choose the stroke or the side. In case the winner chooses the break, the loser shall have the right to choose the side or vice versa.

(v) As soon as any player places the striker on the surface of the board when it is not his turn or for making an out of turn stroke, the umpire shall immediately declare the foul and the board should not be awarded against that player. Both umpire and the opponent shall share the responsibility of being vigilant.

(w) The written protest shall be submitted within 5 minutes of completion of that particular Board. The decision of the Championship/Tournament authorities should be conveyed to the parties concerned at the earlier possible

(x) Matches for cadets, sub-junior and junior players may be conducted with time limit of 22 minutes for each set and total time limit of 70 minutes for each match.

(y) The Chapter of Queen as given in Laws of Carrom of ICF is being revised separately.

(z) All other rules except those mentioned above shall be applicable as provided in Laws of Carrom of ICF.

PDCA junior division league: GAC post big win

Gardanibagh Athletic Club (GAC) scripted a thumping eight-wicket win over Lal Bahadur Shastri Club in the Patna District Cricket Association junior division league at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Friday.


Batting first Lal Bahadur Shatsri Club made a paltry 106 all out off 25 overs. In reply, GAC achieved the required runs losing only two wickets on the way.

In the second match, Kankarbagh Cricket Club also chalked out an impressive 10-wicket victory over Bijoy Narain XI. After bowling out Bijoy Narain XI for am meager 78 runs, Kankarbahg Cricket Club reached the winning target without losing a wicket.
