Bihar U-9 chess: Seeded players post fluent wins

Seeded players in the boys and girls groups won their respective first round matches on the opening day of the Bihar State under-9 chess championships at Sudarshan Central School, Kankarbagh here on Friday.


In the boys’ section, Kumar Gaurav, Akhauri Harshit, Saurav Anand andVeer Sharma earned full points while Kritika Chowdahry and Shreya Sankalp won their first round matches easily.

Earlier, Neeta Singh, principal, Acharya Sudarshan Central School inaugurated the tournament. Patna District Chess Association patron-in-chief Akhilesh Akhil was the chief guest while All Bihar Chess Association secretary Arvind Kumar Sinha was the guest of honour at the opening function.

First round

Girls: Kritika Chowdhary (1) beat Janhavi (0); Garima Gaurav (1) beat Manya Diptam (0), Shreya Sankalp (1) beat Akhauri Sakshi (0).

Boys: Kumar Gaurav (1) beat Harshraj (0), Akhauri Harshit (1) beat Kumar Harshavardhan (0), Saurav Anand (1) beat Kumar Sambhav (0), Veer Sharma (1) beat Nilesh Kumar (0), Amrit Verma (1) beat Rishi Rishav(0), Avnit Anand (1) beat Subrat Sengar (0), Ashutosh Kumar (1) beat Tushar Sinha (0), Gaurav Kumar (1) beat Utkarsh Sinha (0), Shivansh Sengar (.5) drew with Nayan Kumar (.5).
