Patna Women's College clinch Valentine Cup throwball

Patna, February 20, 2014: Patna Women’s College (PWC) won the 12th Valentine Day Cup Throwball Tournament title beating DAV Public School, BSEB Colony, 15-13, 15-10 at their own ground here on Thursday.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Kankarbagh got the third position.

Pratiti Jha of DAV Public School, Board Colony was named best player of the tournament.
PWC principal Dr Sister Rima AC gave away the prizes. Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu and other office-bearers were present in the closing function.

Bihar school throwball teams announced


Patna, December 16, 2013: Bihar State Sports Authority announced state U-19 teams for the All India School Throwball Championships to be held at Kabirdham (Chhattisgarh) from December 19 to 23. The tournament is being oraginsed under the aegis of School Games Federation of India.

Teams (boys) Shishir Kumar, Raj Kamal, Nitish Kumar (all Patna), Rajesh Kumar, Sagar Sahi (both Nalanda), Chandan Kumar, Akshay Kumar, Mohit Kumar, Abhishek Kumar (all Katihar), Sudhir Kumar (Darbhanga), Shivam (Muzffarpur), Ajit Kumar Sinha (coach-cum-manager).


Girls: Madhumita Kumari, Anamika, Ashita Suri, Khushi, Partita Jah, Sonal Raj, Jaya Kumari, Shakshi Sinha (all Patna), Moni Kumari, Baby Kumari (both Katihar), Shreya (Muzaffarpur), Shakshi (coach).

PWC clinch Valentine Cup throwball title


Patna, February 14, 2012: Patna Women’s College (PWC) struggled to down Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road, 15-10, 5-15, 15-13 to win the 10th Valentine Cup throwball championships at the PWC ground here on Tuesday. This was PWC’s eighth title win in last ten years.

The final was evenly matched but PWC prevailed over their rivals using sheer experience. Sushmita, Samyukta, Saba, Roselin and Yogita played well for PWC while Soni, Neha and Shreya and Surabhi excelled for KV.

PWC Principal Dr Doris D’Souza and Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu jointly distributed the prizes. Dr D’ Souza announced that from the next year onward, boys’ tournament would also be organized. Sweta Roy of PWC was named best player of the tournament.

Valentine Cup throwball begins at Patna Women's College



Patna, February 13, 2012: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road will take on Patna Women’s College in the final of the 10th Valentine Cup women's throwball championship at PWC ground here.

In the pool matches Patna Women’s College emerged champions of the pool ‘A” winning their all matches while in the pool ‘B’ Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road, got the top position.

Earlier, Patma Women’s College principal Dr Doris D’Suza inaugurated the tournament. Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Niraj Kumar Pappu was present on the occasion.

Bihar women create history in Sr National throwball



Patna, December 30, 2011: Bihar women created history by winning the 34th Senior National thorwball championships title defeating Madhya Pradesh 15-11, 15-5 at the Patna Central School court here on Friday.
However, Bihar men failed to repeat the feat of their women counterparts losing to Delhi 9-15, 5-15 in the final. This was Bihar women's first title win in Senior National championships.

In the hard-line match, Delhi women prevailed over Chandigarh 15-8, 15-4 to finish third. Madhya Pradesh men outplayed Goa 15-1, 15-6 to get the third position.

The day’s proceedings began with the semifinal matches in the men’s section. Delhi trounced Goa 15-2, 15-4 and Bihar tamed Madhya Pradesh 15-11, 15-9 to set up final clash.

In women’s semifinals, Madhya Pradesh got the better of Delhi 15-12, 15-11 while Bihar outclassed Chandigarh 15-10, 15-7 to move into the final.
Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Dr Sukhda Pandey was the chief guest in the final and she gave away the prizes.
Earlier, renowned classical dance group led by Professor Chittaranjan Sahini and Sangeeta Sahu presented scintillating Odishi dance sequences to mesmerise the spectators.

Patna Central School (PCS) vice-chairman YK Sudarshan welcomed the guests while Throwball Association of Bihar (TAB) secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu proposed a vote of thanks. Bihar Players Association president Mritunjay Tiwari, Throwball Federation of India chairman Naresh Maan, TAB president SB Prasad, PCS principal SP Singh, vice-principal OP Singh were present on the occasion.

Bihar men and women storm into semifinals of Senior National throwball championships




Patna, December 29, 2011: Bihar men and women moved into the semifinals of the 34th Senior National throwball championships winning their quarterfinal matches with great élan and comfort at the Patna Central School ground here on Thursday.

Bihar, Madhya Pradsh, Delhi and Goa booked their places in the men’s semifinals while in the women’s section Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Chandigarh got the semifinal berths.
Bihar will face Chandigarh in the first semifinal while Delhi will take on Madhya Pradesh in the second semifinal of the women’s section on Friday.

In men’s section, Bihar will meet Madhya Pradesh while Delhi will lock their horns with Goa in the second semifinal.

Bihar women spearheaded by Vandana, Kamana, Shambhavi and Shubhra trounced Bengal 15-7, 15-10. For Bengal Sunanda Das, Shikha Duuta, Riya Das and Ruma Modak dished out noteworthy performances.

In the men’s section quarterfinal, Bihar proved too good for Bengal 15-7, 15-10.
Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu said final matches would be played on Friday evening. Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Dr Sukhda Pandey would give away the prizes.

Bihar men and women continue winning streak in National throwball







Patna, December 28, 2011: Bihar men and women teams continued their winning momentum in the pool matches of the 34th Senior National throwball championships at the Patna Central School ground here on Wednesday.

Bihar women beat Madhya Pradesh 15-9, 15-6 in their first match of the day while in the second match they thrashed Pondicherry 15-1, 15-1. Bihar men downed neighbour Jharkhand 15-1, 15-7.
With this wins Bihar men and women teams virtually qualified for the quarterfinals.

34th Senior National throwball begins in Patna







Patna, December 27, 2011: The 34th Senior National throwball championships got off to a colourful start at Patna Central School (PCS) ground here on Tuesday.

The inaugural ceremony had all the ingredients of a mega sporting affair. Participating teams entered the ground in Olympic style and students of PCS presented several colorful dance sequences on the theme of unity in diversity and on the songs composed by Acharya Sudarshanjee Maharaj.
Bihar Minority Welfare and Information Technology Minister Shahid Ali Khan inaugurated the championships.

Chief-patron of the organising committee Acharya Sudarshanji Maharaj, Throwball Federation of India chairman Naresh Maan, its treasure Sribala Vinayakam, assistant secretary Avinash Natbare, Bihar Players Association president Mirtunjay Tiwari were present in the opening function. Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Niraj Kumar Pappu welcomed the guests while PCS vice-chairman YK Sudarshan presided over the function.

In the on-field actions, Bihar women started their campaign with a fluent 15-2, 15-1 victory over Jharkhand.
In the men’s section, Delhi beat Tamil,Nadu 15-11, 12-15 and 15-7.

Patna Central School all set to host Senior National throwball championships






Patna, December 26, 2011: Stage is set for the 34th Senior National Throwball championships beginning at the Patna Central School ground here from December 27.

Throwball Association of Bihar (TAB) secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu said 6o teams (30 men and as many women) would take part in the three-day premier tournament.

On the occasion of Bihar’s centenary year, Throwball Association of Bihar (TAB) and Acharya Sudarshan Sports and Cultural Foundation are jointly organising the four-day meet, he said.

Pappu said state teams from Delhi, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Goa, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Utrakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala had reached the venue.

Other state teams would be reaching here by Tuesday morning, he added. Teams would get their boarding and lodging facilities on the Patna Central School campus while officials would stay in different hotels of the State Capital.

Paapu said Bihar Information Technology and Minority Welfare Minister Shahid Ali Khan would inaugurate the championships at 2:00 pm on Tuesday. Acharya Sudarshanji Maharaj would be chief guest in the inaugural function. Throwball Federation of India chairman Naresh Maan would be the special guest, he added.

Senior Bihar throwball teams announced for National meet


Patna, December 25, 2011: Throwball Association of Bihar announced state teams for the 34th Senior National Throwball Championships to be held at the Patna Central School ground here from December 27.

Announcing the teams Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu said Nitish Kumar would lead the men’s team while Vandana Kumari would head the women’s team.

Men: Nitish Kumar (captain), Rakesh Ranjan, Ranjan Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Navin Kumar, Vishal Singh, Ratnesh Singh, Avinash Kumar, Nehal Singh, Abhishek Bannerjee, Anmol Singh, Deepak Singh, John Aryan and Gutam Singh; Amersh Kumar (coach) and Dr Sudhir Kumar (manager).

Bihar sub-junior girls excel in National throwball

Bihar finished runners-up in the National sub-junior throwball championships held in Secundrabad recently. Bihar girls lost to Tamil Nadu in the final. The team returned Patna on June 15, 2011.

Valentine Day throwball from February 14

Patna, February 8, 2011: Throwball Association of Bihar will organise the 9th Valentine Day throwball championship at the Patna Women’s College ground here from February 14.

According to Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu, the two-day tournament will witness eight women teams vying for top honours.

Zenith Commerce Academy had agreed upon to sponsor the tournament, he said. The tournament will be played on league-cum-knock out basis.

Don Bosco Academy girls claim throwball title

Patna, August 29, 2010: Don Bosco Academy girls won the 15th Major Dhyanchand memorial throwball championships for Sudarshan Cup at the Bankipore Girls High School ground here on Sunday.

In the final, Don Bosco Academy beat Patna Central School 15-7, 11-15 and 15-12 to clinch the title.

In boys’ final, Leeds Asian School beat Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road 15-12, 11-15 and 15-12 to assert their supremacy.

Patna Women’s College got the women’s crown defeating Kendriya Vidyalaya, PRS, 15-13, 15-17 and 15-4 in the final.

Sumedha, Rani Priya, Anumesha Prakash and Setu Shekhar (all Patna Women’s College and Neha Singh and Soni Verma of Kendriya Vidyalaya played well.

Acharya Sudarshan Ji Maharaj gave away the prizes in a colourful function. Niraj Kumar Pappu, secretary, Acharya Sudarshan Sports and Cultural Foundation welcomed the guests. SP Singh, president of the foundation proposed a vote of thanks.

Soni Kumari of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ruchi Kumari of Patna Central School and Rohit Kumar of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankarbagh were declared best players in women, girls and boys’ sections respectively.

Don Bosco Academy begin title hunt in style

Patna, August 27, 2010: Don Bosco Academy, Kandriya Vidyalaya (Kankarbagh), Krishna Niketan and Leeds Asian Schools won their respective first round matches in style in the 15th Dhyanchand throwball championships for Sudarshan Cup at Bankipore Girls School ground here of Friday.


Earlier, Acharya Sudarshan Sports and Cultural Foundation chairman BK Sudarshan inaugurated the three-day meet. Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu welcomed the guest while foundation president SP Singh presided over the function.

15th Dhyanchand throwball from August 27

Patna, August 12, 2010: Throwball Association of Bihar (TAB) will organise the 15th Dhyanchand throwball championships at Bankipore Girls School here from August 27, to 29.

TAB secretary Niraj Kumar Pappu said the tournament would be organized in boys and girls sections. Top three finishers of each group would be given prizes. The last date for entry is August 18.

Delhi boys, Tamil Nadu girls clinch Junior National throwball crowns


Patna, May 26, 2010: Delhi boys clinched the Acharya Sudarshan 21stJunior National throwball championships title taming Tamil Nadu 15-12,4-15, 16-14 in a three-set thriller at the Patna Central School ground here onWednesday.

Tamil Nadu, however, salvaged pride winning the girls crown defeatingDelhi 15-10, 15-8 in a one-sided encounter.

Bihar boys beat Madhya Pradesh 15-8, 13-15, 15-10 to finish third in the championships. Bihar girls too earned the third position.
Ajay Rashmi Gupta, director, Doordarshan Kendra, Patna, distributed the prizes. Patna Central School vice-principal OP Singh welcomed the guests. Acharya Sudarshan Jee Maharaj was present at the prize distribution function.

Bihar boys and girls enter quarterfinals

Patna, May 25, 2010: Hosts Bihar and defending champions Andhra Pradesh moved into the boys’ quarterfinals of the Acharya Sudarshan 21st Junior National throwball championships at Patna Central School ground here on Tuesday.

Runners-up Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka also advanced into the quarterfinals. In girls’ group, Bihar, Delhi, Pondicherry, Madhya Pradesh, Haryanaand Tamil Nadu booked their berths into the quarterfinals.

Defending champs Andhra Pradesh lose to Tamil Nadu in their first match




Patna, May 24, 2010: It was a sad beginning for Defending champions Andhra Pradesh in the Acharya Sudarshan 21st Junior National throwball championships at the Patna Central School ground here on Monday.
Andhra Pradesh boys lost to Tamil Nadu 8-15, 11-15. Hosts Bihar and runners-up Delhi got their momentum going in the other matches of the boys’ section. Bihar got the better of Orissa in a thrilling three-setter 15-11, 11-15, 15-8 while Delhi trounced Himachal Pradesh 15-1, 15-5.

In girls’ section, Bihar humbled Chhattisgarh 15-1, 15-5. Tamil Nadu humiliated Punjab 15-1, 15-0. Madhya Pradesh drubbed Haryana 15-0, 15-3. Pondicherry slammed Jammu and Kashmir 15-2, 15-5 while Delhi beat Uttar Pradesh 15-0, 15-5.

In the other encounters of the boys’ group, Madhya Pradesh prevailed over Karnataka 15-10, 15-12. Orissa outplayed Punjab 15-5, 15-6. Haryana beat Jammu and Kashmir 15-0, 15-0 and Chhattisgarh defeated Pondicherry 15-8, 15-1.

Earlier, Throwball Association of Bihar (TAB) felicitated Acharya Sudarshan Jee Maharaj and SB Prasad, CMD, Star India Construction for their distinguished contributions to Bihar sports. Throwball Federation of India chairman Naresh Maan felicitated the two dignitaries by presenting them a shawl and silver crown.

Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Sudarshan Jee Maharaj urged the participants to lead a disciplined life for success in every field. “There is no substitute of hard work and there is no short cut to success”, he added.
