Sewa survives scare; Bihar's Shilpi, Shruti enter second round

Patna, October 21, 2009:
Manoj Sewa of West Bengal escaped seven match points against Sagar Ahuja of Maharashtra to win the match after a grueling battle 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (8) and moved into the second round of Hubnet AITA tennis championships at Patliputra Colony courts here on Tuesday.

Ahuja played a great match but lost at the end. At one stage, Sewa was down 3-5, 15-40 in the decider but he showed some great resilience to survive all these match points with his experience. He needed only one match point to win the match.

In women’s singles local star Shilpi Jaiswal demolished Sheikh Naaz of UP 6-1, 6-0 to start her campaign in style. Naaz was no match to Shilpi in any department of the game. Shilpi served twelve aces in the match.

In another match Jaiswal sibling Shruti outclassed Ayushi Yadav of UP 6-0, 6-2. Shruti played some awesome tennis in first eleven games of the match. Ayushi was unable to do anything against the very powerful strokes of Shruti. When the score was 6-0, 5-0 in favor of Shruti then Ayushi showed a few good hands to win a two consolation games.
