Patna men clinch Bihar carrom title

Patna, October 21, 2009:
Patna proved their supremacy in the state carrom winning the men’s team championships tile of the 19th Bihar state and inter-district championship at Post and Telegraph Recreation Club hall here on Tuesday.

Patna outplayed Chapra 2-1 to win the crown. West Champaran annexed the women’s team championship title demolishing Patna 3-0 in the final.

Results:

Men team final: Patna beat Chapra 2-1 (Niraj Sinha lost to Navin Arya 6-10, 0-10; Abhay Sharma bt Neeraj 2-1, 20-2; S Aditya and Pramod beat Pankaj and P C Choubey 12-2, 14-0).

Semi-finals: Chapra beat Samastipur 2-1 (Niraj lost to Md Nadeem 3-11, 0-15; Navin Arya beat Z Khan 14-1, 11-1; Pankaj and R C Choubey beat Md Akhtar and Md Naushad 7-9, 11-1, 15-11).
Patna beat Postal 3-0 (Neeraj Kumar beat Vivek Kumar 13-3, 0-8, 10-1; Abhay Kumar Sharma beat Subodh Sharan Sinha 19-1, 14-1; Pramod and M Aditya beat A K Jha and Mahfuz 14-6, 8-6).
Women team final: West Champaran beat Patna 3-0 (Viva beat Sandhya Sinha 6-5, 14-8; Kajal beat Guriya Rani Singh 10-4, 7-0; Archana and Neha got walk over against Deepika and Sweta) .

Semi-finals: Patna beat Muzaffarpur 2-0 (Guriya Rani Singh beat Rinki Ranjan 12-0, 10-6; Sandhya Sinha beat Sriya 5-7, 12-0, 20-0).

West Champaran beat Patna ‘B’ 2-0 (Kajal Kumari beat Khoosbu Karn 13-0, 11-4; Viva Kumari bt Puja Kumari 7-2, 8-4).

Men’s single first round: Ravi (Patna) beat Gulab Babu 12-0, 8-8, 16-4; Mithilesh Sah beat Sahnaz 9-2, 2-5, 14-5; Mouinuddin beat Alok Kumar 10-6, 12-9; Devbashish beat K Gopal 11-2, 11-3; Manish Jaiswal beat Rajan 2-8; 12-6, 11-10; M A Khan beat Ritesh Kumar 15-2; 4-14; 13-3.
