Seeded players Yogesh and Priyanshu along with a dozen others moved into the second round of the cadet boy’s singles event in the Second Bihar State Major Ranking table tennis championship at the Bihar Young Men’s Institute here on Saturday.
Yogesh tamed Aditya 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 while Priyanshu trounced Suparsh Singh 11-6, 11-8, 11-4 in their first round matches.
Prof Rajendra Prasad Gupta, MLC inaugurated the tournament at a glittering function. Before the start of matches he was introduced to the players. Dilip Kumar Gandhi, secretary, Patna District Table Tennis Association (PDTTA), welcomed the guests and Mukesh Roy, secretary, Bihar Table Tennis Association (BTTA), proposed a vote of thanks. Mahadeo Prasad Yadav, vice-president, BTTA, presided over thefunction. Prem Kumar Singh, chairman, PDTTA and its vice-presidentRajiv Ratan Singh were present at the opening function.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Gupta announced he would sanction a fund from MLC quota in next financial year to BYMI for the construction of a guest house at the institute.

Cadet boys singles (first round): Yogesh beat Aditya 11-6, 11-6, 11-7; Priyanshu beat Suparsh Singh 11-6, 11-8, 11-4; Rohan Kumar beat Pratik Bansal 11-2, 11-6, 11-8; Subhanshu beat Vicky Kumar 11-7, 11-3, 11-5; Raj Ranjan beat Gaurav Pal 11-5, 11-3, 11-5; Shivam beat Rishabh 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7 and Atas Raja beat Rohit 13-11, 11-7 and 11-5.
