Patna, October 29, 2009:
Gyandeep Kendriya Vidyalaya, Shahpur edged out Delhi Public School, Patna 2-0 to move into the quarterfinals of the Rock inter-school football tournament at the outer ground of the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Wednesday.
Gyandeep School captain Sudhir Kumar netted in the first goal of the match in the 17th minute of the first half through his solo effort. Gyandeep boys started the game with a brisk pace and proper combination. Playing with 2-3-5 format, they attacked the rival territory umpteen times. At the breather, Gyandeep boys were leading 1-0.
After the break, DPS fought hard to bring in the equalizer but poor finish poured cold water in their attempts. Even the DPS boys failed to convert two spot kicks. DPS boys looked a bit tired in the fag end of the second half. Maheshwar Prasad increased the tally in the 51st minute for Gyandeep School (2-0).
Earlier, chairman cum managing director of Rock Securities and Intelligence Pvt Ltd, Manoj Kumar Prasad Singh, inaugurated the tournament in a colourful function. The tournament is being organized by Association for People’s Welfare and Development (APWAD), a non government organization.
