Sad exit for West Point High School

Patna, October 31, 2009:
It was a sad exit for West Point High School from the Rock inter-school football tournament. They played superbly throughout the regulation time. But in the tie-breaker, they failed to convert all the spot kicks into goals and bowed out of the tournament losing 3-5 to BMP High School at the outer ground of the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Friday.

West Point shot into the lead in the 12th minute when Abbas Ali struck home through his solo effort. BMP High School equalized the lead in the 28th minute when Satyendra Mehra scored a brilliant goal (1-1). Rest of the first half saw both the teams looking for the opportunities to increase the tally but poor planning and marksmanship spoiled their chances. The first half of the match ended 1-1.

In the second half too both the teams played attacking football. West Point boys a bit of upper hand in the second half but they could not find the target. The score was 1-1 till the referee blew the final whistle.

Penalty shootouts came into force to decide the fate of the match. Md Sarfraz, Shahnawaz, Mukesh Kumar and Shiv Kumar found the target for the BMP High School while Prince Kumar and Shadab Khan scored the goals for the West Point High School.
