atna, October 30, 2009:Ravi struck the match winner in the 46th minute to steer BD Public School into the quarterfinals of the Rock inter-school football tournament at the SAI ground of the Moiunl Haq Stadium here on Thursday. BD Public School beat Srimati Girija Kunwar High School, Masaurhi 1-0 in a keenly contested match.
The match began in fast pace as both the teams raided their rivals’ territory using their flanks well. In the 18th minute BD Public School’s Prakash and Indrajeet combined well to take the ball to opponents’ danger zone but Indrajet missed an open sitter. Girija High School boys bounced back with some good moves. Ranjeet Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar and Gautam Kumar played heart out soccer. The trio altogether made seven moves but could not convert it into a goal.
At the lemon break the score was 0-0. The second half of the game saw identical display from both the teams. Ball was mostly confined to the midfield. In a sudden move, Ravi netted the match winner for BD Public School. In the 46th minute Ravi latched on ball after it was sent to him off a measured cross from Nitsh, and struck home nicely with a power-packed volley.
Girija High School boy tried hard for the equaliser but poor marksmanship came as a big hurdle on the way.
