Patna, October 3, 2009:The Day Third of the 21st National sub-junior kabaddi championships at the Moinul Haq Stadium here was full of surprise and excitement. Biggest surprise of the day was hosts Bihar reaching the semi-finals in both (boys and girls) sections of the tournament.
Bihar boys did an awesome job defeating Tamil Nadu in the quarter-finals 32-18. Bihar girls too chalked out an impressive victory over Maharashtra 32-8 in the quarter-finals.
Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan were the other teams, who entered the semi-finals in the boys section. In the distaff side, Manipur, Haryana and Delhi booked their berths in the semi-finals.
Hosts Bihar will take on Uttar Pradesh in boys’ semi-final clash while Bihar girls will face Manipur in the semi-final.
In the other quarter-final matches of the boys group, Uttar Pradesh beat Andhra Pradesh 23-7, Delhi outplayed Orissa 34-16 and Rajasthan defeated Manipur 32-25.
In girls quarter-final matches, Manipur edged out Madhya Pradesh 38-29, Haryana beat Assam 36-13 and Delhi trounced Hyderabad 29-10.
