Katihar's Varsha wins cadet girls' singles title

Patna, October 13, 2009:
Katihar lass Varsha Kumari won the cadet girls’ singles title of the second Bihar state Major Ranking table tennis championships beating Riyanshi Gupta of Madepura 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 8-11 and 11-5 in a well contested final at the Bihar Young Men’s Institute here on Monday.

In the women’s singles event, Ahra Pal, Poulomi Raha, Saiqua Parween and Chandra Raut moved into the semi-finals.

In the sub-junior boys’ singles, Piyush D Gandhi, Aman Adarsh, Suman Kumar and Amit Kumar booked their appointed place in the semi-finals.Tushar Kanti, Anand Kumar Sah, Gagan Neer and Gauresh Nishad made the last four grades in cadet boys’ event.

Cadet boys' singles (quarter-finals): Tushar Kanti beat Priyanshu 11-9, 11-3, 11-9; Anand Kumar Sah beat Shubhanshu 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-9; Gagan Neer beat Ayush 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 and Gaursh Nishad beat Aditya Umang 12-10, 11-7, 11-6.
