Railways, Jharkhand women register big wins in National hockey


New Delhi, April 20, 2013: Four goals by Binita Xess helped defending champions, Railways thrash Uttarakhand 19-0 in their Pool A league match of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship played at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday.

Goal scores for Railways were Binita Xess (10, 23, 41, 42 minutes), Amandeep Kaur (1, 11, 39 minutes), Jasjeet Kaur (20, 37minutes), Apoorva V (24,32 minutes), Rosalin Dung Dung (45, 64 minutes), Joydeep Kaur (6 min), Ramneek Kaur (22 min), Rosalind L Ralte (10 min), Asunta Lakra (50 min), Preety S Kiro (53 min) and Laurenua Kerketta (60 min).

In the other match, Jharkhand crushed Kerala 16-0 in Pool C. Goal scorers for Jharkhand were Sabnam Lakra (9, 46, 58, 63, 66 minutes), Kanti Pradhan (32, 49, 55, 57 minutes), Nisha Rani Aind (14, 29 minutes) and Sarita Lakra (53, 67 minutes), Shilwanti Minjur (3 min) and Punita Minz (60 min).

In the fifth minute Jharkhand got the advantage of an own goal.

In the third match of the day, Odisha overpowered Tripura 19-0 in Pool G.
The scores for Odisha were Raina Yadav (6, 10, 37, 48 minutes), Mariana Kanjur (12, 15, 44 minutes), Ashim Kanchan Barla (16, 47, 56 minutes), Priyanka Ekka (49, 55, 59 min), Sarojini Ekka-2 (28, 38 minutes), Sarojini Ekka-1 (3, 49 minutes), Rashmita Minz (24 min) and Punam Minz (58 min).    

In the other match of the day, Chitra KC struck six goals to fashion Karnataka emphatic 12-2 win against Himachal Pradesh in pool G.
