Odisha and MPHA boys enter semifinals


Rohtak, November 4, 2012: Odisha and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy boys entered the semifinals of 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior Boys & Girls National Championship at Rohtak on Sunday.

Punjab and SAI Bhopal are the two other teams who have already qualified for semi-finals. In the semi-finals(boys) to be played on Tuesday November 6, Odisha take on SAI Bhopal while Punjab will face Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy.

In the first match of the Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy boys beat Odisha 4-1. Prasan Tirkey(2nd minute), Peothin Kujur(29th minute), Prakash Barla(48th minute) and Felix Baa(52nd minute) scored one goal each while from Odisha the only reply came from Anish Gurung(65th minute).

In another match Punjab beat Karnataka 5-1. Harmanpreet Singh(7th, 38thminute), Jugraj Singh (57th minute), Shamsher Singh (65th minute) and Baljinder Singh (70th minute) are the goal scorers for Punjab while Rohan scored the only goal for Karnataka (60th minute).

In the girls match Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy beat Mizoram 5-2 to enter the semifinals. For MPHA goal scorers were Preeti Dubey (12th, 25thminute), Shikha Sharma (48th, 56th minute) and Krishna (54th minute) while L. Lalmuanawmi (59th, 69th minute) scored for Mizoram. Jharkhand, Haryana and Mizoram girls have already qualified for the semifinals. 

In the semifinals (girls) to be played on Tuesday November 6, MPHA take on Jharkhand while Haryana will face Mizoram.
