Indian junior men hockey team announced for 2nd Sultan of Johar Cup


NEW DELHI, October 31, 2012: Hockey India announced Indian junior men’s hockey team for the 2nd Sultan of Johar Cup 2012 to be held in Malaysia from November 11 to 18.

Other competing teams in the tournament include Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and the hosts Malaysia.

Selection trials to select the Indian team were conducted at SAI Centre, Netaji Subash Institute of Sports in Patiala from November 25 to 27 witnessed by Hockey India selectors Col. Balbir Singh, B.P Govinda and Thoiba Singh as well as government observer Harbinder Singh and coach Baljeet Singh Saini.

India will play their opening match against Australia on November 11 followed by matches against Germany, Pakistan, New Zealand and the host Malaysia.

The 18 member squad will be captained by Manpreet Singh while Kothajit Singh will be the vice-captain.
