In the first singles of men’s team championship event
Prakash Gaikwad of India
beat Sareefuddin of Sri Lanka by 25-6, and 25-5. In the second singles Yogesh
Pardeshi of India beat N.
Fernando of Sri Lanka
by 25-5 and 25-15. The third singles also went in favour of India as K Shrinivas prevailed over Chamil
Coorey of Sri Lanka
18-23, 25-2 and 25-8.
Indian women also retained women’s team title drifting their
archrivals Sri Lanka
3-0. In the first singles of women’s team championship match Rashmi Kumari of India beat
Yashika of Srilanka 25-9 and 17-15. In the second match Illavazghi of India
beat Joseph Roshita 23-6 and 25-9. In the third singles, Kavita of India beat
Madhusikha of Sri Lanka 25-6 and 19-4.
Earlier, in the semifinals of the men’s team championships, India beat Bangladesh
3-0 and Sri Lanka beat Canada
by 3-0.
In the women’s doubles final, Rashmi Kumari and Ilavaghi of
India beat Yashika and Madhushika of Sri Lanka 25-5 and 25-4. J Roshita and
Chalani of Sri Lanka beat Kavita and Parimala of India 7-25, 25-8 and 25-22 to
secure third place.
In the men’s doubles final, Yogesh Pardesi and Prakash
Gaikwad of India
beat their team mates B Dharshan and K Sreenavas 25-18 and 25-17. Chamil Coorey
and Franando of Sri Lanka got the third place beating their teammates by 22-25,
25-18 and 25-9.
The Swiss League singles ranking event held today was won by
India ’s
Prakash Gaikwad who defeated Srilank’s Nishanta Fernando in the final. A total
of 74 men and women carrom players from 18 countries participated in the
tournament. The first three positions were secured by Prakash Gaikwad of India , N. Fernando of Sri
Lanka and Yogesh Pardesi of India respectively.
