Venkatpathy Raju, former India cricketer, hogged the
limelight despite being disqualified in the strokeplay format of cavalry round
yesterday. “I thought it was a practice round and I mistakenly picked the ball
in the middle of the fairway. Luckily I won all three matches today and
submitted a good score for my gang. I am really looking forward to the final
round in Bangkok .”
The man who helped The Avengers to book their birth for
Bangkok finale was its captain Siddharth Rai who won all three matches from J.
C. Pegu of Classic Ambush, Tony Udagadera of Pin High and Nirav Parikh of
Ahmedabad Tigers.
After a stroke play format played yesterday, 8 teams were
divided into two groups according to their seeding and the winner of each group
made it to the gladiator which would be played at the Lotus Valley Golf Course
in Bangkok next
month.
In the group A- Mumbai Marauders – sword horde of Mumbai
became the runner up with 14.5 points, yesterday’s leader Green Gang of Kolkata
made 11 points to get the third place while south zone’s favourite Pin High
Aces returned with 6.5 points to finish as fourth.
In the group B – Pin High, another Bangalore ’s
gang collected 13.5 as a team to finish as a runner-up, Delhi ’s Classic Ambush was one shot behind
with 12.5 points while Ahmedabad Tigers put together a score of 7 points to
finish the day as fourth.
