Jharkhand girls, Odisha boys win East Zone sub-junior hockey titles

Patna, October 21, 2012: Jharkhand girls won the East Zone sub-junior hockey championship title beating Mizoram 3-1 via tie-breaker at the BMP-5 ground here on Sunday.

Odisha clinched the boys’ crown defeating Jharkhand 6-3 also through tie-breaker.
In the girls’ final, the match ended goalless in the regulation time.
Earlier, Odisha drubbed hosts Bihar 6-0 to claim the third position.

The boys’ final was tied 2-2 after the end of the regulation time. Deepson, Leofil, Neelam Sanjeev and Sanjit hit the target for Odisha while Jyotish scored it for Jharkhand in the penalty shootouts.

Manipur claimed the third position beating Bengal 5-3.

Ashok Kumar Gupta, DG, Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, who was the chief guest in the prize-distribution ceremony, gave away the prizes. Md Mushtaque Ahmad, general secretary, Hockey Bihar, welcomed the guests.
