Lucent Cup Dhyanchand throwball: Bankipore Girls High School reign supreme

Patna, August 29, 2009:
Bankipore Girls High school won the girls’ team championship title of the Lucent Cup 14th Dhyanchad throwball championships defeating Dayanand Kanya Vidyalaya 15-8, 15-5 in the final at their home ground here on Saturday.

Bankipore girls were on the offensive start from the beginning. Dayanand Kanya Vidyalaya found no answer to rivals serves and lost the match tamely. Soni Kumari, Lovely Kumari, Mala Kumari and Chanchala Kumari showed remarkable skills. For Dayanand girls, Sakshi, Madhu, Sneha, Nitu and Neha performed well.

Later in a colourful function, Akhilesh Kumar Sinha, founder president, Throwball Association of Bihar, Bilkis Jehan, principal, Bankipore Girls High School andBasant Kumar Sinha, director of the Star India Housing Private Limited, jointly distributed the prizes.

The organizers also hnoured four sports journalists Deepak Pandey, Pradeep Modak, Md Ishauddin , Adhikari MM Prasad and two leading sports organizers Md Mushtaq Ahmed (secretary, Bihar Olympic Association) and Bijoy Kumar Narain Chunnu (CEO, VP Sinha Sports Foundation) on the occasion.

Niraj Kumar Pappu, secretary, Throwball Association of Bihar, welcomed the guests. Mirtunjay Tiwary, president, Bihar Players Association, Dr Sudhir Kumar, Ekta Jindal of Star India, Rakesh Ranjan, Nitu Singh, Sneha Rani, Shiv Pal, Bhola Prasad and Mamta Kumari were present at the function.
The championship was sponsored by Lucent Senior Secondary School.
