Sandeep is new Bihar badminton champion

Kumar Sandeep is new badminton champion of Bihar. In the men’s singles final at Secretariat Badminton Hall here on Sunday, Sandeep tamed promising Aman Ranjan of Patna
21-15, 21-19 to win the coveted crown.

Aman, however, amended his performance, winning a grand double in the winning junior boys’ singles and doubles titles. Aman Ranjan beat Sudhir Kumar Singh 21-18, 21-6 for the junior boys’ title while pairing with Rajesh Kumar he outplayed the combination of Divesh Kumar and Satish Kumar 14-21, 21-15 and 21-17.

Alka Kumari of Bhagalpur retained the Bihar women’s singles title defeating Akanksha Kumari of Muzaffarpur 21-6, 21-9 in the final.Neeraj Kumar of Patna won a grand treble in the veterans’ group winning the singles and doubles titles.

Navin Kumar, Development Commissioner, Bihar, who was the chief guest at the closing function, gave away the prizes. Badri Kumar Rastogi, secretary, Patna District Badminton Association (PDBA), welcomed the guests and Balram Prasad, advisor, PDBA, proposed a vote of thanks.
Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department presided over the function. KN Jaiswal, secretary, Bihar Badminton Association (BBA), Ashok Kumar Mishra, BBA, Rakesh Ranjan, vice-president, PDBA, Omprakash, joint secretary, PDBA, and former state player Arun Kumar Mishra were present at the prize-distribution ceremony.
