Kumar Gurav wins Bihar U-19 chess title

Patna, September 8, 2009:
Kumar Gaurav (Muzaffarpur) won the Bihar State U-19 chess championships title with 6.5 points to his credit after the end of seventh and final round play in Muzaffarpur on Monday.

Nilesh Shankar of Patna bagged the second position with 5.5 points. There were four-way tie for the second spot as Nilesh Shankar, Rupesh Ranjan, Sindhu Shekhar and Minazul Haq collected 5.5 points at the end of final round play. Progressive scores were taken into account and Nilesh Shankar got the second spot with better progressive point. Rupesh Ranjan, Sindhu Shekhar and Minazul Haq claimed the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

In the girls’ section, Preyashi Raj of Muzaffarpur won the title.
