Patna district badminton: DPS, Patna Central School enter senior boys' team semifinals

Patna, August 5, 2009:
Delhi Public School, Patna Central School, Holy Mission School and DAV School (Walmi) booked their berths into the senior boys’ team championships semifinals of the Patna district and inter-school badminton championships at the Seceratarait Badminto Hall here on Wednesday.

In the senior girls’ team event, Notre Dame Academy started their campaign in style beating Don Bosco Academy 2-0.

Earlier, Bihar Government’s Urban Development secretary Deepak Kumar inaugurated the week-long event in simple but colourful function. Former MLC Rakesh Ranjan and Deepak Kumar were also introduced to the players. Patna District Badminton Association (PDBA) secretary Badri Kumar Rastogi welcomed the guests while Balram Prasad, advisor, PDBA, proposed a vote of thanks.

Results:
Senior boys’ team event (quarter-finals): Delhi Public School beat St. Paul High School 2-0 (Shikhar beat Kiran Singh 21-6, 21-9; Shikhar and Navkhaj beat Amit and Abhishek Raj 21-8, 21-7).
Holy Mission beat Don Bosco Academy 2-0 (Satya Prakash beat Rahul Kumar 21-10, 17-21, 21-11; Satya Prakash and Mayank Kumar beat Rahul and Piyush 21-9, 21-9).

DAV Walmi beat Himalyan Public School 2-0 (Kundan Kumar beat Abhinav 21-05, 21-01; Abhijeet and Kundan beat Ranjan and Gandhi 21-8, 21-05).

Patna Central School beat DPS 'B' 2-1 (Shashi Kant beat Aarshi Anand 21-16, 14-21, 21-16; Shashi Kant and Rounak beat Shahil and Sagar 16-21, 21-10, 16-21; Rounak Kumar beat Sagar 21-14, 21-14).

Senior girls’ team event league round:
Notre Dame Academy beat Don Bosco Academy 2-0 (Shyima Mahmood beat Ankita 21-12, 21-18; Sukriti and Galariya beat Manisha and Tanya 21-4, 21-4).

DPS beat Don Bosco Academy 2-0 (Jasnoor beat Manisha 21-11, 21-8; Jasnoor and Puja beat Tanya and Akansha 21-3, 21-7).

Junior girls’ team event:
DPS beat St Paul Academy 2-0 (Payal Kumari beat Shilpi Kumari 22-20, 21-16; Riya Agrawal and Shubhi beat Shilpi Kumari and Neha Kumari 21-17, 21-12).
