Kumar Gaurav of Purnia won the Bihar State under-13 chess championships title here on Tuesday. At the end of sixth and final round play Kumar Gaurav won a lightning match against Saurav Kumar of Muzaffarpur to emerge the top at the Youth Hostel Hall.
Akansha of Saharsa with four points claimed the girls’ title.
In the boys’ section, Kumar Gaurav and Saurav Kumar of Muzaffarpur were tied at 5.5 points. The two players had also earned equal progressive points at the end of the sixth and final round.
Chief referee Rakesh Ranjan arranged a lightning match to decide the champion in which Kumar Gaurav beat Saurav Kumar.

Rakesh Ranjan welcomed the guests and Sudhir Kumar Mishra, organizing secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.
