Radhe Payang and Tripti Singh emerge BIT, Patna champions

Patna, February 21, 2010: Radhe Payang of Civil, Production, IT & Mechanical Engineering (CPIM) and Tripti Singh of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) won the individual championship titles in the men and women sections respectively of the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) third annual sports meet here on Sunday.

Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) won the team championships title with 230 points to their credit. EEE with 180 points, CSE with 139 points and CPIM with 114 points got the second, third and fourth positions respectively.

Rameshwar Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Planning, was the chief guest at the prize-distribution function. Dr Janak Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Bihar was the guest of honour. They jointly distributed the prizes.

Prof BN Giri, Dr SP Lal, Prof KP Singh, Prof DP Singh, Dr SK Jain, Prof KC Bajpai and Sujata Bajpai were present at the prize-distribution function.

Earlier, Radhe Pyang of Civil, Production, IT & Mechanical Engineering (CPIM) raced to glory in 1500m on the first day of the two-day annual sports meet on Saturday.

Prof BN Giri, Director, BIT, Patna, inaugurated the meet.

Results:

5000-m (men): Radhe Payang of CPIM (first), Sunil Kumar Gupta of ECE (second) and Prashant Priyadarshi of CPIM (third).

Shot put: G Anurag Reddy of ECE (first), Pranit Arora of CSE (second) and Dhanesh Chandra (third).

Triple jump: Satish R of EEE (first), Pranay Patel of ECE (second) and Parash Prakash of EEE (third).

Tug of war: ECE (first) and EEE (second).

Women: High jump: Arti Kumari of CSE (first), Manomita Mishra of CSE (third) and Alka Seenam of CPIM (third).

Jevelin throw: Kalyani Kumari of CSE (first), Vidyut Medha of CSE (second) and Sweety of ECE (third).

Shot put: Shamsunnissa Begum of ECE (first), Arushi of ECE (second) and Ajit Singh of ECE (third).

Tug of war: ECE (first) and EEE (second).

Men: Board jump: Paras Prakash Munda of EEE (first), Rajesh Kumar of ECE (second) and Kumar Gaurav of CPIM (third).
Discus throw: Anurag Reddy of ECE (first), Abhishek Kumar of EEE (second) and Ankit Mishra of EEE (third).

Women: Board jump: Steffy Santosh of ECE (first), Tripti of EEE (second) and Pooja Kumari of ECE (third).

Discus throw: Shamsunissa of ECE (first), Kalyani Kumari of CSE (second) and Khushbu Kumari of CPIM (third).
