Karnataka, Bihar move into super league

Patna, February 4, 2010: Defending champions Karnataka, hosts Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu cemented their places in the super league of the 9th All-India BSNL volleyball championships at the Telegraph Recreation Club courts here on Thursday.


Karnataka from pool “A”, Tamil Nadu from pool “B”, Himachal Pradesh from pool “C” entered the super league with three wins while Bihar won all four matches in pool “D” and sneaked into the next stage of the tournament.

In their last league match, Bihar steamrollered Gujarat 25-8, 25-8 in a one-sided encounter. Bihar spikers Sanjay Kumar, Murari Prasad, Amar Kumar played well.

Gujarat beat Assam 25-12, 25-15; Andhra Pradesh beat Madhya Pradesh 25-18, 25-15; Tamil Nadu beat Uttaranchal 25-13, 25-6; Himachal Pradesh beat Kerala 25-17, 25-17; Rajasthan beat Punjab 25-13, 25-18; Uttar Pradesh (East) beat MTNL (Delhi) 25-0, 25-16; West Bengal beat MTNL (Mumbai) 25-20, 25-10; Andhra Pradesh beat Assam 25-8, 25-14; Karnataka beat Maharashtra 25-18, 25-8 and Bihar beat Gujarat 25-8, 25-8.
