Chief Minister Cup cricket: Patna advance

Patna, February 21, 2010: Patna handed a crushing eight-wicket defeat on Nawada in the Chief Minister Cup cricket tournament (Patna zone) at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Sunday.

It was Dilip Kumar who scripted Patna’s big win. Dilip displayed an all round performance (4 wickets for 21 and 16 not out).

Nawada won the toss and decided to bat first. Nawada could manage to score 137 runs off 27.3 overs. Nawada batsmen just failed to negotiate accurate and probing attack of Dilip Kumar. Rajeev Ranjan made an unbeaten half-century (51 not out, 4x4, 1x6) for Nawada. Gautam Abhishek (17), Tabrez Alam (13) and Vikas Kumar (14) were other useful scorers. Gopal claimed three wickets for 22 runs while Raja took one wicket.

In reply, Patna raced to the target off 21.2 overs losing skipper Prabhat Kumar (52, 10x4) and Amalesh (50) wickets. Kabir Sanyal and Dilip remained unbeaten on 47 (6x6) and (16, 3x4) runs respectively. Vikas and Gautam took capture wicket each.
