Gaurav, Akansha win Bihar U-11 chess titles

Patna, February 14, 2010: Gaurav Kumar of Muzaffarpur won the Bihar chess U-11 title aggregating five points at the end of fifth and final round play of the State under-11chess championship at Sudarshan Central School Hall here on Sunday.


Devashish of Kishanganj with 4.5 points got the second position. Akansha of Saharsa clinched the girls’ title with five points. Manya Diptam of Patna with four points bagged the runner-up tile.
Patna Central MLA Arun Kumar Sinha was the chief guest and he gave away the prizes. All Bihar Chess Association secretary Arvind Kumar Sinha and Bihar BJP Panchayti Raj cell president Ramji Singh were the special guests on the occasion.

The organizers felicitated Bihae Swimming Association secretary Ram Bilas Pandey, who was the manager of the gold winning Indian swimming team in the South Asian Games held in Dhaka (Bangladesh) recently.

Rakesh Ranjan, secretary, Patna District Chess Association, welcomed the guests and Birendra Kumar Upadhaya proposed a vote of thanks. Principal of the Sudarshan Central School, Neeta Singh presided over the function.
