Patna, February 2, 2010: Defending champions Karnataka opened their title campaign in remarkable fashion with a straight 25-7, 25-6 victory over Punjab on the opening day of the 9th All India National BSNL volleyball tournament at Telegraph Recreation Club courts here today.Hosts Bihar too started in style beating Assam 25-4, 25-9. In other league matches of the day, Tamil Nadu beat Uttar Pradesh (East) 25-6, 25-12 and Himachal Pradesh eddged past West Bengal 25-11, 25-12.
Uttaranchal tamed MTNL (Delhi) 25-11, 25-14 and Rajasthan decimated Maharashtra 25-4, 25-7. Kerala got the better of MTNL (Mumbai) 25-11, 25-17.
Earlier, Gopal Das, Director HR, BSNL Corporate Office, New Delhi inaugurated the tournament in a gala opening function that saw captivating cultural programmes presented by school girls. SC Mishra, CGM, Bihar Circle welcomed the guests.
