Patna, June 11, 2010: Bengal moved into the final of the East Zone under-14 cricket championship beating Bihar by a five runs in a rain-hit match at Cuttack.
According to information received here, Bengal scored 165 runs in 40.5 overs as Bihar bowlers maintained tight line and length to keep Bengal batsmen in check. Abhijit (63) and Hera (31) delighted the crowd with some lusty hits.
Anukul Ashish returned with the best figure of the day claiming four wickets for 18 runs. Prashant and Sanjeet took three and two wickets each for 31 and 35 runs respectively.
In reply, Bihar were 45 for one wicket when rain disrupted the play. Bihar got a revised target of 107 runs in 33 overs when the play resumed.
Bihar batsmen Chandan, Pravee Ranjan and Ishan Kishan could not do much as Bihar crashed out for 102 runs in 31.3 overs.
For Bihar, Anujit Parmar (20), Chandan (13) and Prashant (20 not out) reached the double figures. Surya Mandal took four wickets for 24 runs.
