Vishu claims a grand treble in AITA talent series

Patna, June 24, 2011: Vishu Prasad of Delhi clinched a grand treble in the second leg of AITA talent series tournament winning the boys’ U-18, U-16 singles and U-18 doubles titles at the Patliputra tennis court here on Friday.

In the boys’ under-18 singles final Vishu Prasad beat Sourabh Raghuvanshi of Madhya Pradesh 6-1, 6-0. Later, partnering with Niklash Kanojia, Vishu won the boys’ U-18 doubles title beating Shree Krishna (Bihar) and Nishat Iqbal (WB) 6-1, 7-6.

Uthra Venkatesh of Tamil Nadu annexed double crowns in girls’ section winning under-18 and under-16 singles finals.

Results: Boys’ under-18 singles (final): Vishu Prasad (Delhi) bt Sourabh Raghuvanshi (MP) 6-1, 6-0.

Boys’ under-16 singles (final): Vishu Prasad bt Shree Krishna (Bihar) 6-3, 6-4.

Boys’ under-18 doubles (final): Vishu Prasad & Niklash Kanojia bt Shree Krishna & Nishat Iqbal 6-1, 7-6.

Boys’ under-16 doubles (final): Shree Krishna & Nishat Iqbal bt Arnav Alok Goel (UTK) & Ravi Tomar (UTK) 6-4, 6-2.

Girls’ under-18 singles (final): Uthra Venkatesh (TN) bt Madhu Jaiswal (Bihar) 6-0, 6-0. Girls’ under-16 (final): Uthra Venkatesh bt Fatima Packer (Bihar) 6-0, 6-0.

Bihar Lawn Tennis Association secretary Dr Akhouri B Prasad gave away the prizes.
