Shruti Jaiswal wins U-18 girls title

Patna, June 18, 2011: Shruti Jaiswal of Bihar won the AITA talent series girls’ under-18 singles title beating Kalpana Chaudhary of Uttar Pradesh 6-1, 6-2 in the final at the Patliputra Colony courts here.

It was quite a one-sided affair for Patna girl Shruti, who broke the services of Kalpana at her will. She gave no chance to her rival to bounce back.

In the girls U-16 singles final, Madhu Jaiswal beat Fatima Packer 6-2, 6-3 to win the crown.

In the coveted boys’ U-18 section, Devpriya Jaiswal of Bihar and Vishu Prasad of Delhi were declared joint winners as rains played spoilsport for the second consecutive day. Earlier on June 17, the match was stopped due to rain and at that time Devpriya was leading 3-0.

In the boys’ U-16 singles final Vishu Prasad tamed Sanoj Kumar of Bihar 6-2, 6-3 to capture the title. Later Vishu Prasad pairing with Adamya Vikrant of Bihar defeated Sahil Sehwag (Delhi) and Karan Mehta (Maharashtra) 6-2, 6-2 to win the U-16 doubles crown.
