Bihar move into junior hockey semifinals

Patna, April 19, 2017: Hockey Bihar tamed Hockey Bengaluru 5-4 via sudden death to move into the semifianls of the 7th Junior National Hockey Championships in Bhopal on Wednesday.

The game rose to a great height as both the teams displayed brilliant hockey throughout the match. The match ended goalless in the first half.

Gulshan Ekka put Bihar into the lead in the 57th minute while P Rao equalised it in the 62nd minute 1-1.

When the match failed to produce result in the regulation time, penalty strokes rule was applied. But incidentally both the teams struck three goals each.

Later in the sudden death Bihar scored the match winner,

For Bihar Tipu Ali scored two goals, Gulshan Ekka and Anwarul Shah netted one each.

The kudos to Bihar victory, however, went to custodian Rohit Pathak who saved 4 goals in the penalty strokes.

In the semifinals, Bihar will take on Punjab and Sindh Bank.
