Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand and MPHA enter semifinals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Women National Championship


New Delhi, April 29, 2013:  Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand and MPHA entered the semifinals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Women National Championship played at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi on Monday.

In the semifinals, Haryana takes on Jharkhand while MPHA will clash with Punjab.
  
Haryana pulled off a fine 8-0 win against fancied Odisha in the first quarterfinal match.

Haryana, for whom Jyoti Gupta (4), Nicky (1), Malkeet Kaur (1), Navpreet Kaur (1) and Navneet Kaur (1) scored, thus remained unbeatable in the championship.

In the second quarterfinal match, Punjab edged past Tamil Nadu 9-1. For Punjab Ruchi Batta (2), Baljeet Kaur (2), Navjeet Kaur (2), Sandeep Kaur (2) and Kuljeet Kaur (1) scored while Tamil Nadu’s only reply came from Parmeswari.

In the third quarterfinal match, Jharkhand beat Uttar Pradesh 7-1. Goal scorers for Jharkhand were Rajni Soreng (1st min), Punam Madhuri Tete (10th, 20th min), Swati Herenj (33rd min), Anima Minz (56th min), Rukmani Dodray (62nd min) and Nomita Xalxo (65th min) while Kavita Maurya (14th min) scored the only goal for Uttar Pradesh.

In the fourth quarterfinal match, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) registered easy win over Delhi 6-1.
MPHA scored through R Ramngaihzuali (27 min), Diksha Tiwari (33 min), Priyanka Wankhede (35, 54, 58 min) and Own Goal (37 min). For Delhi Manisha Verma (57 min) scored the only goal

Quarter-final 1- Haryana 8 (Jyoti Gupta 2, 26, 41, 43, Nicky 9, Malkeet Kaur 28, Navpreet Kaur 32, Navneet Kaur 67) beat Odisha 0. 

Quarter-final 2- Punjab 9(Ruchi Batta 14, 61, Baljeet Kaur 17, 31, Kuljeet Kaur 22, Navjeet Kaur 29, 39, Sandeep Kaur 44, 52) beat Tamil Nadu 1 (Parameswari 30)

Quarter-final 3- Jharkhand 7 (Rajni Soreng 1, Punam Madhuri Tete 10, 20, Swati Herenj 33, Anima Minz 56, Rukmani Dodray 62, Nomita Xalxo 65) beat Uttar Pradesh 1 (Kavita Maurya 14)

Quarter-final 4- MPHA 6 (R Ramngaihzuali 27, Diksha Tiwari 33, Priyanka Wankhede 35, 54, 58, Own Goal 37) beat Delhi 1 (Manisha Verma 57)
