Plying on the home turf, UP men dominated the proceedings
throughout the 70-minute battle and led by 4-0 at half-time.
Left-in Raju Pal scored three goals, where as Imran Khan
netted two goals. The fifth goal was an own goal scored by Jharkhand defender
himself.
Odisha, which had a thrilling 3-1 win over Manipur in their
opening match of Pool B yesterday, proved their supremacy while crushing
Tripura 13-0 after leading by 4-0 in the first match on third day of the
nine-day championship. Rajin scored championship’s third hat-trick as he scored
five goals. Amonmirash struck a brace, while Saroj, Amit, Josech, Bikas, Alsem
scored a goal each.
Goals continued to rain in the second match too, when MP
Hockey Academy downed Goa 16-0. They scored
eight goals in each halves. Nikki Kaushal, Armaan Gurishy and Sarfaraz Khan
netted three goals each, where as M Nizamuddin, Rana Pratap, and captain Shakir
Hussain shared six goals between them. Abhay Yadav too scored a goal in the
first half.
Bihar’s 6-1 win against Rajasthan in a Pool H league match
on the day was off just an academic interest as Himachal Pradesh already made
it to the quarterfinals with two wins in as many as matches.
Rahul Kumar (2 goals), Vikas Kumar Singh, Raushan Kumar and
Ravi Kumar scored a goal each.
Himachal outplayed Pudicherry 11-0 in a Pool H match to
complete their hat-trick of wins.
