75th Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championship to be held in Patna from January 7

Patna, December 25, 2013: The 75th Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championship will be held at Patliputra Sports Complex here from January 7 to 12 next under the auspices of Bihar Table Tennis Association.

The Championship will be held second time in Patna in which 600 players from 34 States and Public Sectors like Petroleum Sport Promotion Board, LIC, Bank Sports Board, BSNL, Railways, Airport Authority of India, Indian Audit & Accounts Department and other eligible organizations will be taking part in the event. This tournament was earlier held in Patna in the year 2009 very successfully.

Shyam Rajak, Minister for Food and Consumer Protection, Govt. of Bihar, addressing the Press as the Patron in Chief of the tournament committee said that there is prize money in different events for the winners and runners amounting to Rs.16 lakhs.

President of Bihar Table Tennis Association Sanjay Singh, MLC briefed the press that the tournament will be conducted on the guideline provided by Table Tennis Federation of India. Singh stated that visiting players and officials will be accommodated in the hotels and sports hostel of the stadium. He further communicated that AK Chauhan, senior IAS officer has been made chairman of the organizing committee.

He also communicated that the tournament is likely to be inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. PC Chaturvedi, President and Dhanraj Chowdhary, General Secretary of TTFI will be present during the opening ceremony.

BTTA secretary Mukesh Roy said that about 150 technical officials and umpires would be present for smooth conduct of the tournament. He also stated that all the current Indian Team players in men’s and women’s were expected to take part in this mega event.


The Bihar team which has been selected to represent the state in this tournament is going under a coaching camp supervised by former senior state players.
