Patna, December 7, 2012: Rubal Shandilya of Bihar will
take on Siddharth Vishwakama of Uttar Pradesh in the men’s singles final of the
Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Memorial Tennis Tournament. In the semifinals
played on Friday Rubal Shandilya beat Gagan Sharma of Rajasthan 6-4,
6-3 while Siddharth Vishwakama tamed Chandershakher Mohanty of Assam 7-6,
7-6.
In the women’s singles Sanya Madan of Delhi
will face Namita Bal of Maharashtra . Sanya Madan
beat Varunya Chandrashekhar of Karnataka 7-6, 6-3 and Namita Bal overpowered Shambhavi
Dixit of Andhra Pradesh 6-1, 6-1 in their semifinal matches.
In the men’s doubles final, Deepak Vishwakarma (UP) and
Rubal Shandiliya (Bihar) beat Chandrashekhar Mohanty (Assam ) and Gagan
Sharma (Raj) 6-4, 7-5 to clinch the crown.
Namita Bal of Maharashtra and Sanya Madan of Delhi claimed the women’s
doubles crown beating Varunya Chandrashekhar (Karnataka) and Shambhavi Dixit of
Andhra Pradesh 6-4, 6-2.
