Patna junior basketball teams announced

Patna: Patna District Basketball Association on Tuesday announced its junior boys and girls’ teams for the state championships. A coaching camp for the selected players will begin from May 10 at Patliputra Sports Complex basketball courts.

Boys: Raunak, Chandan, Rahul Kr, Rahul Kr Sahni, Shashi Bhushan, Mahipal, Mannu Singh, Abhijeet Kr Singh, Ronit, Vikash Kumar, Suzuki Kr, Rajwendra Kr, Pratik Kumar, Nishant Kr, Ashim Banerjee

Girls: Nisha kri, Deep Jyoti, Aditi Kri , Sriyesh Chauhan, Shilpa, Anjana Kri, Kajal, Vhanshika,  Mallika, Aliba, Tasnim, Shifali, Tanya, Harshi Sharma and Sarika

KV Kankarbagh, Notre Dame Academy win basketball titles

Patna, April 23, 2017: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankarbagh, and Notre Dame Academy clinched the boys and girls titles respectively of  the Inter-School Basketball Challenge at the Patliputra Sports Complex courts here on Sunday.

In the boys' final KV Kankarbagh beat Loyola High School 23-13 while Notre Dame Academy defeated St Joseph's Convent High School 21-12 in the girls' summit clash.

Sujuki Kumar (KV) and Tanya of Notre Dame Academy won the best player of the tournament awards in their respective category.


Noted heart specialist Dr BB Bharti (Ford Hospital) and Abhihesk Kumar, deputy chief account officer-ECR, gave away the prizes.

Loyola face KV in boys final; Notre Dame take on St Joseph's in girls basketball challenge final


Patna, April 22, 2017: Loyola High School will take on Kendriya Vidyalaya in the boys' final of the Inter-School Basketball Challenge at the Patliputra Sports Complex court here on Sunday.

Notre Dame Academy will face St Joseph's Convent in the girls' final.

In the boys' semfinals played on Saturday, Loyola High School beat St Michael's High School 18-13 while Kendriya Vidyalaya beat Trinity Global School 18-12.

In the girls' semifnal matches, St Joseph's Convent defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya 18-10 while Notre Dame Academy beat Carmel High School 15-10.

Patna, April 21, 2017: Loyola High School, Notre Dame Academy, St Joseph's Convent, Trinity Global School, St Michael's School and Kendriya Vidyalaya won their respective matches in the Patna Basketball Challenge Inter-School Tournament at the Patliputra Sports Complex courts here on Friday.

Earlier, Professor Dr Sachchidanand Sinha inaugurated the tournament. JD(U) leader Kamakhya Singh and Bihar State Kabaddi Association secretary Kumar Vijay were present on the occasion. Basketball Association of Bihar secretary Sushil Kumar welcomed the guests.

Results (boys):  Loyola High School beat BD Public School 28-21, BD Public (first) beat BD Public (second)  16-8, Trinity Global beat Tribhuvan 18-14, St Michael's beat Don Bosco Academy 30-08, Kendriya Vidyalaya beat Loyola School 19-9.

Girls: Notre Dame Academy beat Bishop Scot 16-2 and St Josephs's Convent beat Carmels High School 14-5.

Inter-School basketball Challenge from today

Patna: Buddha Sports Academy will organise inter-school basketball challenge for boys and girls at Patliputra Sports Complex courts from Friday.

10 boys and  six girls teams are taking part in the tournament which will be inaugurated by professor Sachchidanand Sinha, former scientific officer, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Bihar State Kabaddi Association secretary Kumar Vijay will be the guest of honour in the opening function.

The final of the tournament will be held on April 23.

Bihar sub-junior basketball teams announced

Patna, September 23, 2010: Basketball Association of Bihar announced state teams for the 37th National sub-junior championships to be held in Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) from September 24 to 30.

The team had left for Kangra on Tuesday.

Boys: Kumar Shashank (captain), Abhishek, Swetang, Abhinav, Vikas, Nitesh, Govind, Sonu, Shashank, Gulshan, Jitendra, Vikas II and Shudhansu. Chief Coach Deepak Kumar and Triloki Pathak (coach).

Girls: Diksha (captain), Tanya, Prachi, Kritika, Rashmi, Pratima, Chandni, Anuska, Jagriti, Nisha Bharati, Yoshita and Umara. Devashish Bannerjee (chief coach) and Nilu Kumari (manager).

Patna Central School win ND Grover basketball trophy

Patna, August 27, 2010: Patna Central School (PCS) won ND Grover memorial inter-school basketball title defeating Delhi Public School (DPS) 26-11 in the final at the DAV Public School (BSEB Colony) courts here on Friday.


In girls’ section, Delhi Public School drubbed DAV School (BSEB Colony) 9-4 to clinch the trophy.

In boys’ semifinals, PCS beat BD Public School while DPS outplayed DAV School, Khagaul. In girls’ group, DAV School, BSEB Colony beat BD Public School and DPS beat Notre Dame Academy.

Yogesh Kumar of PCS and Sameera Raza of DPS were adjudged best players of the tournament in the boys and girls’ sections respectively.


Dr RP Singh Rahi, former principal, Patna College, gave away the prizes.

Muzaffarpur to host sub-jr basketball trials

Patna, August 18, 2010: Selection trials of the Bihar sub-junior basketball team will be held in Muzaffarpur on August 29, according to Sushil Kumar, coordinator, Basketball Association of Bihar.

Bihar would participate in the sub-junior National basketball championships to be held in Himachal Pradesh from September 24, he added.

Inter-School basketball from June 26

Patna, June 13, 2010: First Sri Krishna Singh memorial inter-school basketball championship for under-17 boys and girls will be held at the Moinul Haq Stadium here from June 26, according to a press release.

The last date for entry is June 24. Interested schools may contact Debashish Banerjee at the basketball court of the Moinul Haq Stadium for entry and other details.

Inter-school basketball from June 26

Patna, June 3, 2010: Sardar Patel Sports Foundation has decided to host Sri Krishna Singh memorial inter-school basketball championships at the outer ground of the Moinul Haq Stadium here from June 26.

According to foundation secretary Santosh Tiwari, 24 school teams (boys and girls) will participate in the tournament. All the matches would be played under floodlights, he added.

International School too good for Litera Valley

Patna, May 11, 2010: International School trounced Litera Valley School 12-0 in a league match of the girls’ section of Jitendra Rai memorial inter-school basketball tournament at Moinul Haq Stadium basketball court here on Tuesday.

International School dominated the proceedings and scored points at their will. Bhavna Singh of International School caged in four points.

In boys’ section, Patna Central School (PCS) got the better of Delhi Public School 21-16.

Results: Boys (league stage): BMP High School bt Shivam Convent 47-16; St Xavier’s High School bt Shivam Convent 25-4; Patna Central School bt International School 16-0; BD Public School bt St Dominic’s High School 13-2; Oxbridge Convent High School bt DAV High School 27-21 and Patna Central School bt Delhi Public School 21-16.

DPS Patna girls begin campaign in style

Patna, May 10, 2010: BMP High School boys and Delhi Public School girls won their opening matches in grand fashion in the Jitendra Rai memorial inter-school basketball tournament at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Monday.

BMP High School outplayed St Xavier’s School 18-9. Varun Kumar and Saurav Kumar of BMP School caged in 8 and 6 points respectively. Ashish of St Xavier’s School scored 9 points.

In the girls’ section, DPS outplayed Litera Valley School 18-0 with Samrin and Akshra making 12 and 6 points respectively.

Earlier Ashwani Kumar Singh, CMD, Ashwani Group inaugurated the tournament. Bihar Players’ Association president Mritunjay Tiwari, Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu, Bihar Basketball Association secretary Shushil Kumar and Mithilesh Kumar were present on the occasion.

Bihar youth basketball teams announced

Patna, April 18, 2010: Basketball Association of Bihar announced A 20-member Bihar boys’ and a 16-member girls teams for the National youth basketball championship to be held in Tamil Nadu from June 1.

Boys: Shahabuddin Khan, Yogesh Kumar, Vicky Kumar Sahani, Ahraz Firoz, Shubhang Sinha, Rohit Raj, Sarvesh Shekhar, Dheeraj Ranjan, Sonu Kumar, Adarsh Kumar Singh, Sandeep Kumar Patel, Gaurav Singh, Gunjan Kumar, Angad Singh Sohel, Akash, Anand Pratap, Siddhan Gaurav, Rahul Kumar, Ajay Kumar Chourasia and Kumar Mohit.

St Joseph's, Darjeeling clinch basketball title

Ptana, November 13, 2008
St Joseph’s School, Darjeeling thrashed St Xavier’s School, Ranchi 56-28 to clinch the Inter-Jesuit school basketball tournament title at St Xavier’s School ground here on Wednesday.

Earlier in semifinals, St Joseph’s School (Darjeeling) crushed hosts St Xavier’s, Patna 43-27 while St Xavier’s Ranchi beat St Xavier’s Raignaj 50-44 to set up final showdown.

Darjeeling boys started their attack right from the word go and never allowed their rivals to take command of the match. Niranjan Shreshta, Hise Bangdi, Druksel Jamyang played their heart out for the winners. For Ranchi boys Sandeep Bando, Ajeet and Pankaj performed well.

Sports Authority of India (SAI, Delhi) director Sudhanshu Shekhar Rai and State Bank of India (SBI, Patna) CGM Krishna Kumar gave away the prizes.

Jesuit Schools basketball: St Xavier's (Patna) move into semi-finals

Hosts St Xavier's High School (Patna), St Xavier's (Raiganj) St Xavier's (Ranchi) and St Joseph's Darjeeling cruised into the semi-finals of the 9th Inter-Jesuit school basketball tournament here on Tuesday.

St Xavier’s, Patna had a comparatively easy outing against St Xavier’s, Sahebganj 50-18 while St Xavier’s, Ranchi outplayed St Michael’s Patna 45-32 to book their appointed slots in the semi-finals.

Results: St Xavier's, Kolkata beat St Xavier's, Bettiah 25-21; St Xavier's, Raiganj beat St Xavier's, Sahebganj 33-20; St Joseph's, Darjeeling beat Prabhat Tara, Ranchi 62-6; St Xavier's, Ranchi beat St Michael's High School, Patna 45-31; CHS, Ara beat KR, Bettiah 30-22; St John's, Ranchi beat St Xavier's, Kolkata 25-12; St Xavier's, Raiganj beat St Xavier's, Bettiah 31-10; St Xavier's, Ranchi beat Prabhat Tara, Ranchi 56-34 and St Xavier's, Patna beat St Xavier's, Sahebganj 50-18.
