Sanil shows Shree Krishna the door

Patna, January 23, 2013: Sanil Jagtaini of Bengal upset first leg champion Shree Krishna of Bihar 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 in the boys’ U-18 singles quarterfinal of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) Talent Series Second Leg Tournament at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Wednesday.

Joining Sanil in the semifinals, the other three were Allen Johnson Koundon of Kerala, Parikshit Somani of Assam and Arnav Alok Goel of Uttar Pradesh.

Allen Johnson Koundon beat Azad Singh (Haryana) 6-1, 6-2 while Parikshit Somani beat Mohit Dahiya (Delhi) 6-3, 6-3. Arnav Alok Goel thrashed Ankit Anand 6-1, 6-2.

Results: Boys’ U-18 singles (quarterfinals): Allen Johnson Koundon (Kerala) bt Azad Singh (Haryana) 6-1, 6-2; Sanil Jagtaini (WB) bt Shree Krishna (Bihar) 7-5, 4-6, 6-2; Parikshit Somani (Assam) bt Mohit Dahiya (Delhi) 6-3, 6-3; Arnav Alok Goel (UP) bt Ankit Anand 6-1, 6-2.

Boys’ U-18 doubles (quarterfinals): Ankit Rao (Haryana) and Azad Singh (Haryana) bt Rahul Khanna (Delhi) and Nimesh Khandelwal (Delhi) 6-3,7-6; Sanil Jagtaini (WB) & Parikshit Somani (Assam) bt Arnav Alok Goel (UP) and Ravi Tomar (Delhi) 6-0, 6-1.

Boys’ U-16 singles (quarterfinals): Sanil Jagtaini (WB) bt Ankit Anand (Bihar) 6-0, 6-0; Anshumat Shrivastav (Bihar) bt Adveya Sharma (Bihar) 6-1, 6-2; Ritwik Bhriguvanshi (Bihar) bt Vishal Vivek Kumar (Bihar) 6-0, 6-1; Parikshit Somani (Assam) bt Zain Zafar (Bihar) 6-0, 6-0.

Boys’ U-16 doubles (quarterfinals): Anshumat Shrivastav (Bihar) and Zain Aafar (Bihar) bt Roshan Kumar (Bihar) and Vishal Vivek Kumar (Bihar) 6-0, 6-0; Utksrsh Singh (Bihar) and Shadwal Sufi (Bihar) bt Swapnil Sinha (Bihar) Rewant Raj (Bihar) 6-2, 6-3.
