Good day for Bihar players in AITA Talent Series


Patna, January 21, 2013: The second leg of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) Talent Series Tournament began at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Monday. No upset was witnessed on the first day.

Bihar’s Ankit Anand, Shrayat Parasher and Zain Zafar moved into the second round winning their respective matches in the boys’ U-18 singles first round.

Ankit Anand beat Anshumat Shrivastav 6-1, 6-2. Shrayat Parasher downed Siddhant Raj 6-2, 6-2 while Zain Zafar beat Nilay Mishra 6-0, 6-1.

Results: Boys’ U-18 singles (first round): Aarnav Alok Goel (UP) bt Nimesh Khandelwal (Delhi) 6-1,6-1, Rahul Khanna (Delhi) bt Sadwal Sufi (Bihar) 6-1,6-2

Boy’s U-16 singles (first round): Shadwal Sufi (Bihar) bt Purab Arora (Bih) 6-2, 6-2, Vishel Vivek (Bihar) bt Utkarsh Singh (Bihar) 6-1,6-2, Rewant Raj (Bihar) bt Roshan Kumar (Bihar) 6-0, 6-1, Zain Zafar (Bih) bt Ritwik Ranjan (Bihar) 6-1,6-0

Girls U-16 singles (pre-quarterfinals): Soumya Singh (Bihar) bt Sakshi Sinha (Bihar) 6-0, 6-1, Lavanya Hanshi (Bihar) bt Tanmaya Khushi (Bihar).
