Indian women hockey team wins bronze

New Delhi, December 12, 2011: Indian Hockey Team claimed third position in the Four- Nation Hockey Tournament held at Buenos Aires in Argentina on Sunday. India beat Ireland 4-2 to win the bronze medal.

In the first half of the game both the teams tried hard but failed to score single goal. In the 53rd minute of the game Harvey from Ireland converted a penalty corner into a goal (1-0). In the 57th minute Deep Grace Ekka from India equalizes the score (1-1) by successfully converting a penalty corner into a goal.

The score line was 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time. Later on the result was decided in penalty shootout where 4 Indian players Rani, Ritu Rani, Vandana Katariya and Anuradha Devi scored. From the opposition side Connery and McCay missed the target while Watkins and Daly scored for the Ireland. Final score was 4-2.
