Bihar Masters swimming team announced

Patna, October 21, 2012: Prabhakar Nandan Prasad will lead Bihar in the 9^th National Masters swimming championships to be held in Bhopal from October 27, according to Ram Bilas Pandey, secretary, Bihar Swimming Association.

Team (men): Prabhakar Nandan Prasad (captain), Mahendra Choudhary, Murari Mohan Sharma, Manish Kumar, Avinash Kumar, Mahavir Khemka, Rajesh Kumar Choudhary, Ashok Kumar, Sachin Kumar, Sant Kumar Singh, Deepak Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Vijendra Roy, Sujit Kumar, Surndra Singh and Vijay Kumar.

Women: Aparna Jeevandas, Neelu Singh and Anjali Mehta.

Milan and Piyali win Ganga river swimming titles

Patna, November 6, 2011: West Bengal’s Milan Haldar and Piyali Adak won the 13.5-km Ganga river swimming championships titles here on Sunday.

Earlier, Bihar Labour Resources Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal flagged off the race at Digha ghat. Milan and Piyali got Rs 10,000 each for their victories. Jayoesh T Bhagat of Pune and Zishan Dhali of West Bengal became second and third in the men’s section. Ojashwi Bannerjee of Jharkhand and Snehal of Pune bagged the second and third positions in the women’s section.

Later, Janardan Singh Sigriwal and MLA Arun Kumar Sinha gave away the prizes. The championship was organised by Bihar Swimming Association.

Bihar swimming probables for National Games named

Patna, January 19, 2011: Bihar Swimming Association (BSA) announced 10 probables for the National Games preparatory camp to be held in Danapur Cantt pool from January 21. The swimming event of the National Games will begin from February 13 in Ranchi.

Manoj Kumar Jha and Mahendra Kumar Choudhary will be the coaches for the camp, according to a press release of BSA.

Men: KK Jha, Barun Kumar, Rabinder Rajdhar, Kanchan Kumar, Ritesh Kumar and Sandeep Das.

Women: Neha Singh, Urvija Kirti, Baby Kumari and Payal Pandit.

Bihar swimming team for Sr Nationals named

Patna, August 19, 2010: Bihar Swimming Association (BSA) announced an 11-member state team for the Senior National swimming championships to be held in Jaipur from August 24 to 28.

BSA joint secretary Prabhakar Nandan said Upemdra Kumar and Shashi Bala would be the managers for men and women teams respectively. Manoj Kumar Jha would be the coach of men team while Nanda Singh would be the coach of women team, he added.

Men: Binod Kumar (50 and 100-m breaststroke), Kundan Kumar (50-m butterfly and 200-m individual medley), Dilip Kumar (400 and 200-m freestyle), Ganeshwar Manjhi (100 and 50-m backstroke), Narendra Nishad (200-m butterfly), Aman Kumar (800, 1500-m freestyle) and Mantu Yadav (200, 100, 50m freestyles).

Women: Neha Singh (50-m backstroke and 50-m butterfly), Baby Kumari (200, 100, 50-m breaststroke).

Diving: R Mishra (1 and 3 spring board) and Sarojit Ghosh (high board and spring board).

Dilip, Neha rule the pool in Bihar swimming

Patna, Auhust 7, 2010: Dilip Kumar Gauda and Neha Singh cornered glory winning the individual championship titles in men and women sections respectively at the 33rd Bihar state senior swimming championship at the Bankipore Club swimming pool here on Saturday.

About 129 swimmers from various districts of Bihar participated in the championships.
Earlier, Major Manjeet Singh Sarla inaugurated the championship. Dr Sanjeev Kumar, director, Magadh Hospital and Nikesh Prasad, secretary, Bankipore Club, jointly distributed the prizes. Ram Bilas Pandey, secretary, Bihar swimming Association, welcomed the guests.

Important results:
200-m freestyle: Dilip Kumar (gold); 200m freestyle women: Ritika Raj Singh (gold); 1500-m freestyle: Sailesh Kumar (gold); 200-m breaststroke: Vinod Kumar (gold); 400-m freestyle: Dilip Kumar (gold); 100-m backstroke women: Neha Singh (gold).

Patna, August 4, 2010: The 33rd senior state swimming championship will be held at the Bankipore Club swimming pool on August 7, according to Bihar Swimming Association secretary Ram Bilas Pandey.


He said Manjeet Singh Sarla would inaugurate the championship. Bihar teams for the senior National swimming championships to be held in Jaipur from August 24 would be selected on the basis of performance in the meet, he said.

Patna, July 24, 2010: The 33rd Bihar State senior swimming championships will be held at the Bankipore Club swimming pool on August 7, according to Ram Bilas Pandey, secretary, Bihar Swimming Association.

The tournament was earlier scheduled to be held from July 21 at Delhi Public School (DPS), Danapur.

Last date for entry is August 3. Bihar team for the Senior National championships will be selected on the basis of the state championships.

Bihar's Prabhakar Nandan named technical officer of Commonwealth Games swimming

Patna, July 3, 2010: Prabhakar Nandan, joint secretary of the Bihar Swimming Association, has been named technical officer for the swmming event in the 19th Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi from October 3 to 14, according to Bihar Swimming Association secretary Ram Bilas Pandey.

Bihar Jr and Sub-Jr swimming from May 8

Patna, April 25, 2010: The 33rd Bihar state sub-junior and junior swimming championship will be held at the Delhi Public School swimming pool here from May 8, according to Ram Bilas Pandey, secretary, Bihar Swimming Association.

The last date for entry is May 5.

The 32nd Bihar state senior swimming championships will be held at the Delhi Public School (senior wing) swimming pool here from September 6, according to Prabhakar Nandan Prasad, joint secretary, Bihar Swimming Association.

The Bihar team for senior National swimming championships and National Games would be selected on the basis of the championship, he added.
