We will try to keep the ball possession on our side, says Navjot Kaur


New Delhi, September 2, 2015: With just a few days left before the start of the AHF Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015, which will start 05 September 2015 in Changzhou, China, the India Junior Women Team is all geared-up to take up the challenge for the regional tournament.

What makes the tournament more favourable is the team’s consistency is the presence of the very resourceful player and Vice-Captain Navjot Kaur, who supports Captain Rani in the team. The 20-year-old midfielder Navjot is working on her skills and trying-out new strategies to break-through the defence of the opponents. Her positive mindset and determination to get after the ball is what drives her to success on the field.

Speaking on the first clash against DPR Korea, midfielder Navjot Kaur stated, “The tournament is very important for us as this will give us an opportunity for qualification for the FIH Junior World Cup (Women) 2016. Every team member is aware of her responsibility and ensures to perform to the best of her abilities. Being a midfielder, I have to be more active and fit to support both the defence-line as well as forward players. I am working on implementation of the team strategies on the field and play according to our game-plan.  The team is also planning to focus on coverage of the ground as well as trying to keep the ball possession on our side.”

The AHF Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015 gives an opportunity for qualification for the FIH Junior World Cup (Women) 2016. The upcoming tournament will be played from 5th to 13th September 2015 in Changzhou, China. A total of nine Asian teams will participate in this prominent tournament. India’s first clash will be against DPR Korea on5th September at 12.30 pm IST.
