The team is high on confidence and are enjoying what they are doing,says Roelant Oltmans


New Delhi, September 8, 2015: Post a successful European tour, the Indian Men Hockey team is gearing up for the FIH Hockey World League Final 2015 which is scheduled from 27th November 2015 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh (India) wherein India will face top ranked teams like Australia, Belgium & Germany and post that the all important RIO Olympics 2016.

The vivacious India Team is leaving no stone unturned and has been working on refining their skills in the ongoing camp with an aim to give a tough time to the opponents.

Speaking on the preparations of the team, Roelant Oltmans, Director High Performance and Chief Coach Indian Men Team, Hockey India said, “Our overall preparation is going good at the moment. We have a very good line up and we are trying different combinations. We have 11 months to go for the Olympics so we can try a mix of players who can produce the best results for us. The boys are enjoying the way they are playing and delivering and with this confidence we can expect good results from this team in the forthcoming tournaments. We are working on not being predictable with our game which helps in throwing the surprise element on the opponents. We are working on long ball possession, defence and counter attacks with different set of players.’’

Speaking on the teams preparation, Midfielder Manpreet Singh said, “Roelant Oltmans has been with our team for quite some time now. All the team players know him well. We are working on our lapses especially in our defence and our counter attacking moves. The preparation is going smooth. We have some games competition planned ahead of Olympics which will definitely benefit our preparation”.


The FIH Hero Hockey World League Final 2015 which is slated from 27 November to 6 December 2015 will be played in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
