Grand double for Parikshit Somani



Patna, January 25, 2013: Parikshit Somani of Assam beat Sanil Jagtaini of West Bengal 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the boys’ U-18 singles title in the All India Tennis Association (AITA) Talent Series Second Leg Tournament at the Patliputra Colony courts here on Friday.

Parikshit also won the boy’s U16 singles title defeating the same opponent Sanil Jagtaini 7-5, 6-2 and made it a grand double in this week-long tournament.

Boys’ U-18 singles (final): Parikshit Somani (Assam) bt Sanil Jagtaini (WB) 6-3, 6-1.
Boys’ U-18 doubles (final): Mohit Dahiya (Delhi) and Allen Johnson Koundan (Kerala) bt Ankit Rao (Haryana) and Azad Singh (Haryana) 6-2, 6-4.
Boys’ U-16 singles (final): Parikshit Somani (Assam) bt Sanil Jagtaini (WB) 7-5, 6-2.
Boys’U-16 doubles (final): Anshumat Shrivastav (Bihar) and Zain Zafar (Bihar) bt Adveya Sharma (Bihar) and Siddhant Raj (Bihar) 6-1,6-3.
Girls’ U-18 singles (final): Meenal Maharwal (Rajasthan) bt Madhu Jaiswal (Bihar) 6-3, 6-1.
Girls’ U-18 doubles (final): Shilpi Swarupa Das (Odisha) and Madhu Jaiswal (Bihar) bt Manisha Sahani (UP) and Sitara Sahani (UP) 6-2, 6-4.
Girls’ U-16 singles (final): Shilpi Swarupa Das (Odisha) bt Manisha Sahani (UP) 7-6,7-6.
Girls’ U-16 doubles (final); Madhu Jaiswal (Bihar) and Shilpi Swarupa Das (Odisha) bt Aditi Shreya (Bihar) and Soumya Singh (Bihar) 6-0, 6-1.
