Jharkhand boys and girls win sub-junior hockey titles


New Delhi, April 8, 2013: Jharkhand boys and girls won 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship (East Zone) titles defeating Odisha in both the categories at Nagaon on Monday.

Diva Dung Dung and Betan Dung Dung scored twice each, as Jharkhand registered easy victory over Odisha 4-0 in the final of the women’s final.

Jharkhand led 3-0 at the half time through Divya Dung Dung (14, 16 minutes) and Betan Dung Dung (28th minute). Betan Dung Dung scored another goal for Jharkhand in the 66th minute.

Earlier Jharkhand defeated Odisha 3-1 in the final to win boys title.

Sudhir Munda scored the first goal in the 15th minute for Jharkhand but Odisha equalized the score in the next minute with a field goal scored by Amit Chirmako.
In the second half Sudhir Munda scored two goals in the 51st and 62nd minutes to guide Jharkhand to emphatic victory.

Odisha play Jharkhand in East Zone sub-junior hockey final


New Delhi, 7 April 2013: Odisha will play against Jharkhand in the finals of the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship (East Zone) at Nagaon

In the second semifinal played on Sunday, Odisha defeated Manipur 8-1. Leading 3-0 at the half time, Odisha scored through Amit chirmako (8, 19, 48, 52 minutes), Ashwin Kujur (33, 69), Suman Beck (65) and Suraj Minz (66 minutes).

Odisha looked the better drilled outfit with a lot of character and composure while Manipur committed far too many errors that put them on the defensive for much of the match.

In the girls final, Jharkhand will take on Odisha.

Jharkhand boys enter East Zone Sub-Junior National Hockey final


New Delhi, April 6, 2013: Jharkhand entered the final of the 3rd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship (East Zone) on Saturday at Nagaon in Assam.

In the first semi-final played on Saturday Jharkhand defeated Mizoram 3-0. Sudhir Munda scored the first goal for Jharkhand in the 32nd minute. Jharkhand who led 1-0 at the half time scored another two goals through Joseph Nag and Petrus Tiru in the 57thand 59th minutes respectively.

In the last league match of the day Odisha beat Bengal 6-2.

Now Odisha will face Manipur in the second semi-final match to be played on Sunday and the winner of this match will play against Jharkhand in the finals to be played on April 8.

Results
Semi-final 1- Jharkhand 3(Sudhir Munda 32, Joseph Nag 57 and Petrus Tiru 59) beat Mizoram 0.

Pool A- Odisha 6 (Amit Chirmako 7, 39, 44, Dipsan Tirkey 14, Suraj Minz 40, Ashwin Kujur 67) beat Bengal 2 (Kundan Kujur 31 and Sah Deepak Kumar 63).
