Indian men beat South Africa 4-0 in hockey Test


New Delhi, January 16, 2012: The opening match of the Karbonn Cup commenced yesterday with the Indian women’s team beating Azerbaijan 3-0. In today’s match Indian Women’s team beat Azerbaijan 2-1 and in the second match Indian men’s team beat South Africa by a big margin of 4-0. 

The tournament provides Indian men’s and women’s with the opportunity to prepare themselves for the Olympic Qualifiers which will also be held at MDC National Stadium, New Delhi from February 18 to 26.

Pradeep Jain, MD Karbonn Mobiles says, “We are pleased to host the Karbonn Cup and extend our support to the national sport. India has always had a great tradition in hockey especially at the Olympic Games. We have won 8 gold medals at the Olympics and this is the highest among all national teams.”

Karbonn Cup will include a 5 match Test series between Indian men and South African men and a 4 match Test series between Indian women and Azerbaijan women.
