Preparatory Camp of the India Women Hockey Team commences

New Delhi, January 11, 2015: The preparatory camp of the India Women Hockey Team commenced on Saturday at MDC National Team and will continue till February 9. This camp is in preparations for the Test Matches in Valencia, Spain scheduled to be held from February 10 – 24 and the FIH World League Round 2 to be held in New Delhi from March 7 - 15.                                                

The 24-member Women Team is part of this camp for training of the players before facing 14th-ranked Spain team in Valencia. The Test matches will provide ample opportunities to the players, where they can improve their skills and implement their strategies on ground for the upcoming FIH World League Round 2.

Speaking on the sidelines of the camp, Director High Performance, Roelant Oltmans said, “The camp will be a good learning experience for the team and I am sure through this, the girls will be better prepared for the Spain Tour. Post their Bronze in the Incheon Asian Games 2014, the entire team looks confident and ready to take on newer and bigger challenges. Spain is just a rank below us in the FIH Ranking and we are expecting a good competition from them. We will look at the camp giving us the perfect team for the upcoming FIH World League Round 2.”
