Patna, November 17, 2015: Sofia Khan and Aditi Shreya (both from India-Bihar)
beat Himadri Kashyap (India) and Meghna Mallath (India) 7-5, 6-3 to reach the
quarterfinals of women’s doubles event in the ITF Junior Ranking Tournament in
Guwahti on Tuesday.
Sofia and Aditi showed great consistency and determination
to clinch the one hour and half long battle for the first set 7-5. The rallies
were very long; some of them were even stretched to 150 balls. It was a virtually
marathon set.
The second set was also very tough till three games all.
Kashyap couldn't handle the pressure and made some unforced errors helping her
opponents to pocket the second set 6-3.
With this win Sofia and Aditi got International Junior
Ranking Points and they will get international ranking when the International
Tennis Federation releases the list on Monday nesxt.
Bihar Lawn Tennis Association chief coach Kunal Aikat said only
three players from Bihar had international
ranking earlier.
